Overview

Few American Idol contestants have ever seemed to come straight from central casting as much as Ace Young, that long-haired, non-threatening hunk blessed with the good looks of one of Samantha Jones' interchangeable boyfriends on Sex & the City, and a name to match. Young tries a little bit of everything on his eponymous debut, all the better to fit on some radio format somewhere. Most of the time, he rides a Michael Jackson-inspired groove borrowed from Justin Timberlake -- the JT of Justified, not the cold robotic loverman of FutureSex/LoveSounds -- a sound that does have its appeal, particularly as the disco-fied rhythms are immaculate and warm. When he's not in this mode, Young switches over to arena-filling, radio-devouring power ballads that prove he does indeed bear some responsibility for DAUGHTRY's success (he helped pen DAUGHTRY's hit "It's Not Over"). Both sides of the coin are well-crafted sonically and structurally -- and they're both tied together by a slight '80s obsession, as both the dance tunes and power ballads feel indebted to the heyday of Michael Jackson, George Michael, and Bon Jovi -- and although Young's blandly handsome voice is lacking personality, he does succeed in being slick and sweet.

I've only heard "You Redeem Me", "Hard Hand to Hold", "Addicted" and "The Girl That Got Away" (off his website acemusic.com), and those are outstanding! If that's an indication of the rest of the CD, it will be amazing -- and addicting!

Ace has a wonderful CD. I was able to listen to the whole CD on aol music. This CD has a touch of Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson and Prince &quot The Artist&quot . I liked the CD from the 1st time listening. I did not have to listen 4 to 5 x's for it to grow. The best songs are You Redeem Me, Where will you go, A hard hand to hold, Young Money &quot hot hot&quot and The Letter

Ace did such a fantastic job on this CD! This was totally worth the wait! I love every song, and honestly, it's the best CD I've heard in a long time. There is no need to skip any tracks! If you want a good CD, you should definitely buy this album!

A friend recommended this CD and so far I love it. A great R&amp B and Rock sound. Fast Life and You Redeem Me are great, as is Addicted. Well worth the purchase.

There isn't a song on this CD I like. I haven't kept up with Ace since he was on Idol and ran across this accidentally. After all this time and this is what they decide to put out? What a huge disappointment.

TODAYS MUSIC LOVERS ARE SO EASILY IMPRESSED. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER CD OF THE SAME TIRED JAMS WE HEAR FROM EX BOY BAND MEMBERS AND MICKEY MOUSE CLUB REJECTS. IF YOU'RE GONNA LOOK LIKE A ROCKER,THEN LETS JAM LIKE ONE.

I am just about obsessed with this CD. I say good job Ace. It is what it is. If you like the Pop R&amp B sound you will love this CD too. It you don't you won't. I love all of them but in particular &quot A Hard Hand to Hold.&quot Of course, in the music scene today, if you aren't Leona Lewis, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Amy Winehouse, Miley Cyrus or the Jonas Brothers you will get neither decent reviews nor play on the radio. Ace Young has every reason to be proud of his efforts. I know everyone is titled to their opinion but I just want to get the word out there that it is good.
