The story that inspired the animated film "Superman vs. The Elite." Old school heroes like Superman were a rare breed in the days this issue came out, with violent, killing heroes being hailed as "genius." In this story, one of those uber-violent super "hero" teams challenges Superman and his old-fashiond ideas of heroism. This is an excellent (and complete) story that reminds me why I prefer my heroes to actually be heroes.
