As an experienced programmer this book was actually a waste of my money. If you are a novice then perhaps it may fill the bill. It has example code that will show you the rudimentary commands and operation of what asp and some vbscript is all about. If you would like some advanced programming examples in asp though there is really nothing here. This is really more like an introduction to asp than anything else. I was disappointed in the simplistic approach presented, with the text sometimes more worried about if you knew where to place the cursor before typing rather than any aspect of the subject-->ASP.Was this review helpful? This book is outstanding. I hate reading paragraphs after paragraphs of info when I only want to be able to do a couple unique tasks. This book makes ASP and VBScript easy to understand. There are pictures on every page and it disects the code very well. Each page contains a certain task that you can look-up in the table of contents. I havn't had any experience with ASP before and I would recommend this book to anyone. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I decided it was time to learn how to use databases with my websites. I ended up buying 5 books, but this is the one where the light bulb came on in my head. Every time I need to learn something new for a project, this is the first resource I look at. Great Book! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I purchased a copy of 'Sams Teach Yourself Active Server Pages in 24 Hours' from Barnes & Noble. After reading the first few 'hours' of the book, I realized that since I was not already up to speed on VBScript that understanding everything was going to be an uphill battle. (I have programming experience, just no experience with VBScript.) After checking around, I got a copy of 'Active Server Pages 3.0: Your Visual Blueprint for Developing Interactive Web Sites' from B&N. I've read 60 pages at the time of this writing, and it has been clearer in every area, plus it has a much larger section on VBScript to bring you up to speed. I would recommend it for anyone who is starting from ground zero with Active Server Pages. (Note: I like other titles in the Sams 24 Hours series, this is just one case where there is a better alternative.)Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I am an IT instructor and I teach the beginning programming at my particular university which involves VB, HTML and finally ASP. This is a great little book for beginning ASP, each exercise is clear and concise and the visual layout is among the best i've seen in any book. Was this review helpful?
