Overview

This book is written by experienced staff at the G-Square International Training Academy in an effort to address the growing presence of active shooters in houses of worship. The content is intended to offer options and thoughtful guidance to the well over fifty thousand houses of worship of all denominations, beliefs, and sects that exist in the United States. It is also our belief that the content has a global value in addressing this menace.
It is our fervent prayer that this publication will bring insight to leadership, members, and visitors who may be entrapped in an active shooter or other life-threatening situation while attending services or other activities in houses of worship.
We hope to achieve this by discussing current best practices being developed to combat the active-shooter phenomenon, as well as presenting the best course of action to take when first responders and additional support arrive.
This publication is not intended to be an exhaustive accounting of all available options. It is G-Square's God-inspired effort to present the reader with possibilities that can contribute to survival in the demon-inspired actions of an active shooter and other life-threatening events.

About the Author

Do you have the patience to wait till the mud settles and the water is clear?

—Lao Tzu

Vinny Green has been an integral part of worldwide efforts to combat corruption for more than forty years. He began his governmental career in 1980 when he joined the New York City Transit Authority’s Bureau of Special Inspections. Realizing his calling, Green sought a position with the oldest corruption-fighting agency in the world, the New York City Department of Investigation. In 1981, he joined DOI as a confidential investigator. In 1982, Green was promoted to assistant supervisor tasked with forming the Bureau of Inspectional Integrity focusing on corrupt housing inspectors. In 1987, he was appointed deputy inspector general for Housing Preservation and Development. By 1988, after thwarting repeated efforts by corrupt inspectors and property owners to compromise NYC’s efforts to provide suitable housing, Green was elevated to first deputy inspector general. In 1991, at an awards ceremony recognizing his uncompromising integrity, the mayor of New York City and commissioner of DOI surprised Green with a promotion to inspector general.
In February of 1992, the new DOI commissioner advanced him to the position of supervising inspector general. In that capacity, he was responsible for forming the Procurement, Real Property, Parks, and Finance Unit (PRPFU).
Green was appointed special deputy United States marshal on several investigations involving the violation of federal crimes. In 1994, he was appointed assistant commissioner. At PRPFU’s zenith, he maintained a corruption-free environment in twenty-one agencies, boards, and commissions. In its fourteen years under Green’s stewardship, PRPFU’s numerous investigations included:
• An inquiry leading to changes in senior management and a restructuring of the Inspector General Office at the NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA).
An investigation uncovering the largest tax fraud scheme in NYC history, netting a quarter of a million dollars in bribes paid to undercover operatives and the recovery of twenty million dollars to enrich the city’s coffers and benefit the citizenry. The case resulted in the arrest of agency managers, supervisors, clerks, and the identification of more than six hundred members of the public who orchestrated and participated in the fraud.
