AMAZING!! Highly Recommend!!!
Let me start off by saying that THE NIGHTWALKERS series was my first paranormal romance series. I fell in love with this series and became totally hooked and awaited every release. I was so upset when I heard "Noah" was the last book. So, imagine my surprise (and everyone else's) when I found out 3 years later that Jacki was writing another NIGHTWALKERS book, Woo Hoo!!. Even bigger surprise was when I (and Michelle) were offered an ARC of "Adam" and an opportunity to review it! (I was squeeing for days, and I am still am). But the big question was, after 3 years, could Jacki make this Nightwalker book as amazing as the original five books? The answer...YES SHE CAN!!! Jacki is a literary genius!
To review this book without giving away spoilers is VERY difficult so I cannot give you many details, just my overall take on the book. Once you read the story you will understand why.
With THE NIGHTWALKERS being one of my favorite series and the characters so close to my heart, I almost did not want to read the book anymore when I finished the prologue. I was outraged, in total disbelief, cursing and crying my eyes out and like I said, this was all BEFORE the first chapter. Something horrible happens that leaves the NIghtwalker world (and readers) devastated and heartbroken. The rest of the book was just as incredible, a complete rollercoaster ride of emotions and events.
My biggest concern was how is Jacki going to bring back Adam after he'd been missing for over 400 years? No one had a clue as to what happened to him. He just disappeared one day and was never heard from again and was assumed dead. She surprised me how she played out the reappearance of Adam and I was not let down at all. We also get to find out exactly what happened to Adam the day he disappeared.
Adam is the epitome of the alpha male. He is proud, arrogant and the most powerful water demon in existence. I liked that we got to see Adam a bit vulnerable in this book due to his circumstances. We also got to see glimpses of Adam and Jacob when they were younger, interacting with their parents and each other, as well as a younger Noah.
Jasmine, as always, is a tough as nails vampire. As an immortal she gets bored easily with her long life and likes to go to ground for time to pass. Jasmine is intrigued by Adam from the moment she meets him because Adam makes her feel, which is a first for Jasmine.
Adam and Jasmine's chemistry was sizzling. From the moment they met, they felt an instant attraction and were drawn to each other. You can feel their chemistry coming off the pages.
Throughout the book, Ruth, a powerful mind demon and her psychopath vampire mate Nicodemous, are back and more powerful than ever, wreaking havoc amongst the Nightwalkers. No one is strong enough to defeat the both of them together. Their only hope is Adam. Now that he is back, he might just be powerful enough to destroy them both.
Another part of the book that I loved was that we got to see all of the previous Nightwalkers that we all fell in love with. We got to see the Enforcers, Jacob and his mate Isabella, along with their daughter Leah. Gideon and Legna, as well as their son, Seth. Elijah and his mate, the Lycanthrope Queen, Sienna also made an appearance, as well as Damien, the Vampire Prince and his mate Princess Syreena. We also got to see Noah, the Demon King and his mate Kestra.
I also think the way Jacki left things off, that we
