Purpose: The purpose is to review and synthesize recent literature regarding the clinical aspects of addictive disorders. This book presents a comprehensive review of the etiology, course, presentation, laboratory testing, and treatments for these disorders. In addition, it evaluates the association between addictions and other psychiatric disorders. It also reviews the phenomenon of dual diagnosis and the specialized treatments needed by this patient population.
Audience: It is targeted for general psychiatrists, general physicians, various health professionals, and specifically for medical residents. It will be extremely useful for these individuals to help guide them in their diagnosing, treatment, and understanding of individuals with addictive diseases.
