Set in historical Texas, Addie's neighbor, Cartherers threatens to dam up the river if he can't marry her and gain access to her land. Addie seeks out Jude to pose as her husband. After playing their parts with a kiss or two, Addie questions the wisdom of asking Jude to pose as her husband. Can Jude help Addie save her land or will he walk away?
Yeary intrigues the reader right from the start when Addie saunters into the jail looking for a husband and finds Jude. The plot moves well and it's easy to picture the old west setting. The characters are interesting. Addie needs a little refinement and Jude's looking for something better in his life, but can he find it on Addie's ranch? The love story is "sweet" with a couple of kisses and tender caresses. Addie and the Gunslinger has just the right balance of old west, romance, action, adventure, and intrigue. A very heartwarming read.

ADDIE AND THE GUNSLINGER by Celia Yeary is a wonderful western novella. Addie is a strong, capable heroine struggling to save her family ranch. Jude is an ex gun for hire who's found himself in a difficult situation. When Addie claims he's her husband and gets him out of jail, he's intrigued by both her and her proposal.
Ms Yeary re-creates the western world in lovely detail and she manages to do so without using graphic sex, language or violence. The hero and heroine as well as the secondary characters and villains are well-drawn, believable people. ADDIE AND THE GUNSLINGER is a treat for all readers of western romance.
