To Adelaide Graves, being empathic isn’t a gift, it’s a curse. Nothing could be worse than the barrage of emotions that are constantly seeping in, that is, until she starts seeing ghosts. Such gifts don’t go unnoticed by Reed Wallace, the island’s richest celebrity, who is quick to use his own gift to strong-arm Adelaide. Luckily, she’s half-immune to his unnatural charm, though not to his blackmail. Now his scheming has got her neck-deep in a dangerous race, desperate to find a demon diary, the key to unlocking another realm.

Meet the Author

Penny Greenhorn sleeps by day and writes by night. She’s like an owl, no, a superhero! She even has a secret identity, concealing herself behind a pen name. Yup, totally a superhero. Minus the powers… and spandex, she never wears spandex. She doesn't really save anyone either. Okay, maybe she’s more of an owl. Owls are cool.
Check out Penny’s work: the Empath Series, the Fiona Frost Trilogy, and her stand-alone urban fantasy, Harbinger.

I loved this book! It pulled me in from the very beginning and I just couldn't put it down. I'm a very avid reader of 20 years old and have been trying to read some free books lately (because I'm also a broke college student) but not many free books have been impressing me. This book changed that! Very well written, not too overdone. Sometimes when people put up their free books, they go a little overboard with the thesaurus but this book was perfect, wide variety of vocab used, not repetative, but all words sounded natural. Such an interesting storyline! I can't wait for the next book!

Storyline caught my attention. The main character seems real, and the events keep piling up. Enjoyable reading, not a typical tale and very entertaining

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. An enjoyable read, but I don't like series, and this ended with sequel written all over it.

Much better than I expected! Even by non-free standards it was very good. Kept me entertained the whole time, I didn't want to put it down. The main character was a riot and the plot was very interesting.

I usually am disappointed with freebies or self-published books, but I really enjoyed this book. What could have been an overdone subject matter or a lame mystery was made enjoyable by a snarky and flawed heroine. I liked her and subsequently enjoyed the storyline. I would read more from her.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well written and amusing. It was frankly not very believable, but highly entertaining. I can't wait to read the next book to find out what's up with Lucas.

A quick-witted marvel and at the same time a tall refreshing glass of sweet tea. If you have been waiting for a charming, sassy, and southern ghost story--- well you need not wait a moment longer. Taking place on St. Simons Island in southern Georgia, a young woman with the unexpected ability to see ghost and read trashy romance novels explodes from the pages to take you on a trip involving haunted motels, demons and a boy next door!

Great book! As some of the other reviews have said often the free books are "just ok" but this book was great. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed this book very much. It had suspense, quirky characters, and people with strange skill sets. Would love to see a sequel. Do not start unless you have time to finish, it will grab your attention and hold you til the last page. Well done!
