    Dauntless

    Chapter Thirteen
    Blood. It's everywhere.
I struggle to breathe as blood spills across the floor. I realize its main source, and my hand flies to Jarrson's face. My fingers slip through his hair, searching for the wound. I find it, and he flinches. I turn his head with my hand.
    "Terrin..." he says quietly.
"Be quiet." I respond, parting his short, rather curly hair to see the injury. A steady, horribly heavy flow of blood runs from it, down his neck, his back, staining a red line down his shirt. It pools on the floor, making me dizzy just looking at it.
    "Terrin," Jarrson repeats.
"Hush..." I whisper, my voice trembling. "Hush. It's- it's fine. You're fine."
He grips closes his hand over mine. "Terrin."
    "It's okay, just-"
    "I love you."
"Jarrson, relax. It's okay, we just need a doc-"
"Just be quiet. There's nothing some clinic can do. Just... be here."
I shake my head, fighting tears. "No... Get him a doctor!" I scream at the teenagers surrounding us. They murmur among each other, and a few race off.
Jarrson slumps against me. I swallow as his blood pools in my hand, in my lap.
    "I feel dizzy..." He mumbles.
    "No..." I say weakly.
"It's okay, Terrin. It doesn' t hurt." He sound distant, like he's not fully here.
I realize that's definately NOT okay. My own injury means less than nothing now. "Just... look at me. Jarrson? Look at me, you understand?"
He nods weakly and looks at my face. But his eyes are growing dim, and I can feel him slipping away.
