A great book for those interested in Hungary

The author recounts his days through the eyes of an officer in the Austro-Hungarian navy, describing visits to various ports of call in Africa and the Pacific; his days as an aide de camp for Emoprer Franz Joseph and the lasting impression made by the Emporer on him; to the disgruntled patriot tragically wathcing Hungarian civil order disintegrate in the wake of the Triannon dismemberment and the anarchy of Bela Kun; and his rule of Hungary. He notes his attempts at peaceful resolution of border disputes and Hungary's precarious position between the millstones of Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany, and his attempt to repudiate both with as little bloodshed as possible, and notes ultimately that he surrendered to the Nazis without a fight to aviod the futile deaths of his bodyguards. It also notes his small role in the Nuremburg trials.
