Tom Carson is a professional engineer and Adobe Certified Expert on Acrobat 4 through 6. He has a master's degree in civil/environmental engineering from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, with an emphasis on solid and hazardous waste. While working on remote construction sites remediating environmental problems, he dreamed of an electronic workflow instead of the tons of paper he generated. In 1999, his dream came true when he discovered Adobe Acrobat 3.0. Carson worked on applying Acrobat to engineering problems and has provided considerable input to Adobe in designing Acrobat 6.0 Pro. Carson is chief implementer for Applied PDF, a company he cofounded. Tom is an Adobe Certified Trainer who spends most of his time training workers in hospitals, government, and other businesses, applying Acrobat to specific industry problems.
