Overview

Adobe Illustrator CC is a graphics design and drawing program that you can use to create and design vector graphics for print, web, and mobile devices. With enhancements to the user interface for high resolution screens and online connections to Adobe Creative Cloud, including syncing program settings, and the addition of advanced design tools, including Touch type, search and display fonts, Free Transform, bitmaps in brushes, package export, and touch screen support, you can accomplish a variety of business or personal tasks more efficiently in Illustrator CC.

This book is built from the ground up for today's beginning-to-intermediate-level graphic designer. Like every book in the On Demand Series, this book teaches visually, using an easy, friendly, full-color format designed to "show how," instead of "telling how."

But that's not all. This book:

  • Combines step-by-step training with quick-reference material users can rely on long after they've mastered the core skills they need
  • Provides easy-to-follow task-based coverage, in which most tasks are presented in only one page or a two-page spread
  • Offers and online resource with in-depth coverage of all new Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) certification objectives, so readers can use it as a study guide to enhance their job prospects or current careers
  • Provides additional end-of-chapter workshops and online resources for readers who like to learn through hands-on projects
  • Helps upgraders by presenting a detailed list of new features, indexed to the pages where these features are covered
This book offers tightly focused coverage of the techniques Illustrator users will need most on a day-to-day basis - including all the most valuable new features Adobe is introducing with Illustrator. Simply put, no other book offers beginning-to-intermediate-level Illustrator users this much simplicity, usable content, flexibility, and value.

eBook Format is NOT a Good Platform for Tutorial, Reference, or Guide Books.

As with any graphic-intensive reference eBook on any eBook platform, this book runs very slowly. Regardless of the platform I use computer application, Nook, or other digital reader, this book is excruciatingly slow when changing pages and the pages are small, which makes it very frustrating to use as a reference or tutorial guide.

The content is good; Steve Johnson (the author) clearly knows Adobe Illustrator and provides useful instruction on the basics of Illustrator. However, eBook is not a practical media format to use for an instructional or tutorial reference guide, especially when the eReaders are slow and don’t provide an easy-to-use format.

eReaders are designed specifically for reading books and not useful with reference or guide books. I find this to be the case with EVERY reference book I have purchased in eBook format.
