Try the "Missing Manual" Series instead!

Beginning users will be frustrated with this text. It often forgets to tell you the "little things" that would make the lessons so much easier to complete... like where exactly to find the icons your looking for. When a step is left out, you'll spend hours trying to figure it out. Unfortunately, my college instructor is using this as the text in an Intro to Adobe class. It is not the best choice. If you want to teach yourself the program try The Missing Manual series. They are much more user friendly!

    Great little book

I am very new to Photoshop, and had purchased another book before this one to try and learn this program. This one was so much easier for me to understand, having the disk with the photos to work with along side the lessons in the book made all the difference in the world. I would recommend this book to anyone trying to figure out this very complex program :-)

    Very helpful

I did not have any knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. When I received Adobe Photoshop CS4, I was very lost. After researching the different products that gave instructions on Adobe Photoshop CS4, I made the decision to go with the Classroom in a Book. The Adobe Classrom in a Book is exactly what it means. You get classes on how to perform all the tasks that Adobe Photoshop CS4 allows. The Classroom in a Book is extensive and can not be done overnight, but after completion of it, I now can perform all the tasks of Adobe Photoshop CS4 and feel very comfortable with it as well as going back to Classroom in a Book if I get "stuck" with a task that I have forgotten. Best buy to learn Adobe Photoshop CS4

Adobe Photoshop CS4 Classroom in a Book

I found this book to be only marginally useful when it could have much more. In their attempt to illustrate and teach a given topic, the reader is instructed to enter values rather mechanically to reach an end result. There is very little in-depth explanation as to what had just occurred, and why. To be truly useful the reader needs to end a session with a clear understanding of how and why things work the way they do. I've gone over several lessons multiple times in an effort to get a better understanding of the subject matter to no avail. Some of this is technically very challenging and requires much more explanation to be of more use.

    AWESOME BOOK!

I'm a professional photographer who has studied Photoshop for over 5 years now and started my studies with other books on the subject. This one beats them all hands down.
If your just starting out or have some experience-this is the book for you. Easy to understand, with clear and concise examples. Also very well illustrated in color, and indexed perfectly beginning with the basics and finishing with the more advanced tools.

Purchase this book with no worries. ( It's fun too! )
