If you have a shoebox full of pictures and a copy of Photoshop CS2, then you¿re going to need to have this book. Ms. Eismann is a master of image restoration and it shows. I¿ve been a long time photographer and just recently joined an organization call Operation Photo Rescue 'OPR'. This is an organization made up of volunteers from around the world who have some level of skill in digital image restoration. OPR collects images from families in communities that have experienced natural disasters and distributes the images to volunteers for restoration. I thought I was pretty good at image restoration and then I got this book. WOW! I have learned so much from Ms. Eismann¿s book. I learned so many better approaches to image restoration as well as new techniques that I hadn¿t even considered. This 442 page book provides all you need to improve your retouching and restoration techniques using Photoshop CS2. The chapters contain detailed steps on how to repair and restore various images, but not only that, this book does a lot of what others don¿t and that is to discuss the reasons why certain adjustments are made. So if you spend some time learning the techniques they can be applied to just about any image editing programs. The book is broken down into 3 major topic areas * Improving tone, contrast, exposure and color * Removing dust, mold and repairing damage * Professional portrait and glamor retouching This book is not an introductory book and to get the most out of it you should be comfortable with the fundamentals of Photoshop. If you do have the fundamentals, it is very approachable whether you¿re just starting out working with image restoration or have been doing it for years. It is laid out in step-by-step techniques and covers not just image restoration but also retouching approaches to portrait and glamor images. The book also includes almost all of the images Ms. Eismann uses so you can work along with the techniques. This would be a great addition to any Photoshop user¿s library. I can¿t wait till she updates it for the new upcoming Photoshop CS3! David Holzemer Manager: Adobe E-Learning Users Group Member of Operation Photo Rescue
