This book is a godsend to couples who are considering older child adoption but aren't sure they are up to the challenge. It paints a clear picture of waiting children, adoptive parents, and adoption professionals, giving you a good idea of what to expect. It also has some very good, practical suggestions and I love the way it is written in case study format. After reading this book, I have been encouraged that although parenting children who have been abused or neglected can be difficult at times, the situations are far from impossible and usually turn out OK. We're ready to go forward now with our adoption of an older child! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

This is a good book, but it is a bit outdated. However some of the logic and parenting tips they give never go out of date. It is a great book to read, esp in the long waiting period before you get a child placed in your home. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
