I would NOT recommend this book to others! There are so many typographical AND science errors - colleagues of mine also found the same to be true. It was difficult to trust that you were learning the right info most of the time. Truly, this book was a GREAT disappointment. The design and features of the book were good and would have been very helpful with both preparing for the certification exam and practicing as an NP if there weren't so many errors. I DID still pass the exam though.

I purchased 4 review books for the ANCC Adult NP exam, and this one was by far the worst. There are many errors that I found along the way. Also, I was consistently scoring poorly on the CD-ROM exams 'likely due to the errors!' & as a top NP student in my class found this very distressing! Also, if you're an Adult NP, the set up of this book is annoying with Adult & Family questions mixed together. You basically have to read each question to determine whether it was Adult or Family focused, which I found a waste of time. This book could be helpful if the editors took the time to correct the errors before the next edition.

I purchased four review books to study for my certification exam. I finished the first three, which were excellent. By the time I reached page 95 of this book, I had to stop and put it away. There are errors and outdated material. The numbering sequences are sloppy. Rather than helping me, this book is confusing me with wrong information. There are much better books out there that one can use. I was one of the top students in my NP class and I have no time to waste on this book.

I used this book along with other books to study for the ANCC FNP certification exam (and passed). Many of the questions were VERY specific and would never be tested on a certification exam. I also found that there were some questions that seemed to be more related to inpatient care rather than primary care (outpatient). The testing strategies at the beginning are helpful. However, taking these exams did get me frustrated because I consistenly scored below 78% on each exam. I found that there was very useful information in the question rationales. Practicing tons of questions was helpful in studying for the exam. I would recommend this book, but beware of the typos and know that you probably won't get great scores on the practice tests. I also recommend Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Reveiew (2nd Ed.) by Kidd and Kish.

I successfully passed the ANCC FNP certification exam in February 2006. I did find a few errors, but overall this was an excellent book for improving my test taking abilities. This book, a good review book (I recommend the ANCC's and Margaret Fitzgerald's review book) and a review course will assure success.

Hi, I like the book. The BIG but is that I am starting to lose confidence in this book. There are a few mistakes in the questioning and the numbering of items. Growth and development and the Health Counseling have mistakes. Please review this book again before being published. It is quite disconcerting when I need a reliable source for my preparation before taking the FNP exam. I am still going to finish studying this book, though, because there are still many reliable information that I need to know. Thanks! Miriam
