I was so excited to receive this book in the mail, and after loo

I was so excited to receive this book in the mail, and after looking beyond the beautiful cover, I am not disappointed. The Adventure Bible Storybook has everything you want in a Bible storybook. Bright, exciting pictures; interesting, moving stories, and a good foundation in the Bible's written word.

The Deluxe Edition includes the storybook (with 50 stories - some from the Old Testament and some from the New Testament) and 2 audio CDs.

There were a few things that made this book stand out. First, the illustrations - they are very well done and make this book into a keepsake. I also liked the lesser-known stories they included, like the story of Naaman or Gideon in the Old Testament, and Paul's shipwreck in the New Testament. I think that is a great way to keep children interested in this book, as the stories aren't necessarily ones they've heard before. I liked the "Adventure Discovery" section at the end of each story, with a factoid and a Bible verse. I wish the facts were more scriptural sometimes, but I did like the verse after every story. That way, children could even use them as memory work.

Also, I really liked the audio CDs that were included in the Deluxe Edition. With these CDs, children can "read" just by listening to the disc and looking at the pictures in the book. The discs include the same text in the storybook, but include sound effects (like sheep "baa"ing in the stable in Bethlehem) and different voices for the different characters. The CDs add a whole other element to the storybook and keep it exciting for children who may have heard the stories many times before.

In all, I think this storybook is a great one to use with your children. It is one that will last - you can read it to young children, and older children who can read will find it exciting as well.
