KLIATT
For those who want to get away from the ordinary, set their own pace and meet people who may or may not speak English, under less than perfect conditions, then this is one place to start. Swedo is a veteran of many wilderness survival trips and the founder and director of her own adventure travel company. In this pocket-sized book she addresses the beginner, who may not yet have considered all the cultural ramifications, health and safety issues, and red tape of going off on a truly different tour of faraway places. Also included are special tips for women traveling alone, an appendix of resources, and an "Adventurous Traveler's Checklist." This is an optional purchase for most libraries; it may be of particular interest to new travelers.
