Complete subtitle: A Comprehensive Guide to Books in English Recounting the Adventures of Amateur Sailors upon the Waters of the World in Yachts, Boats, and Other Devices and Including Works on the Arts and Sciences of Cruising, Racing, Seamanship, Navigation, Design, Building, etc. from the Earliest Writings Through 1986 This is a unique key to the fascinating and often exotic world of amateur seafaring. Its more that 5,600 titles, many of which have extensive annotations, are organized for browsing and indexed for easy retrieval. Seafarers of all kinds will find the book extremely helpful. Scholars interested in social history and recreation will find that it opens a hitherto closed world for their exploration. And landlubbers with seafaring ambitions will find it a great source of help in fulfilling those ambitions.
