I had a chance to review this dvd through Thomas Nelson's Booksneeze program. I am under no obligation to provide a positive review. I only gave this dvd 2 stars because I felt that quality was lacking - it's no Veggie Tales! - and I had some questions about it's theology. I would call it fairly conservative. I also had a concern about how God was portrayed in the third story on this disc. When an outsider is catapulted to the island of "Losta Soula", the God-character simply says "Splendid!" I don't believe that God says "Splendid!" when the soul of one of his children is lost. Sure, it was cute and entertaining, but I don't know that my copy will still be around when my 7 month old son is old enough to watch. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. When I saw this DVD being offered for review by Booksneeze, I can't help myself but to request this for my son. The DVD is provided by the publisher, Thomas Nelson Publishing to me with the understanding that it will give it an unbiased review.
The stories are based on the parables of Jesus "acted" by Marty the cheeky Monkey and Gerard the cute giraffe. I don't know why but my son kept calling Gerard as horsey. He certainly love Marty the Monkey. Marty can't help getting himself into trouble.
There are 3 stories in this DVD
- Squid Sushi Loses His Marbles (The Valuable Pearl - Matt 13:45-46)
- Wally the Waitor (The Weeds - Matt 13:24-30)
- The Flaming Monkey (The Wedding Banquet - Matt 22:2-14)
I think the stories is suitable for my son's age(3 years old). It's simple and fun. Each story is about 15minutes. Not too long for him to grow bored with it.
Although the graphic is nothing fancy but there are some laughter to be had by Marty's acts alone.
Overall it give it 4 stars

ADVENTURES IN BOOGABOOGA LAND By Richard Milner
Published by Thomas Nelson
There are 3 episodes on this DVD
Approximately 45 minutes total.
The Episodes are:
1. Squid Sushi loses his Marbles, 'The lost Pearl', Mathew 13:45-46
2. Wally the Waiter, 'The Soil and the Seeds' Matthew 13:24-30
3. The Flaming Monkey, 'The Wedding Banquet' Matthew 22:2-14
I shared the viewing of this dvd with my almost 8 year old granddaughter.
They are cute stories, and my granddaugher enjoyed them a lot, we sat through the whole thing twice. It will be a great addition to a day care, or 'childrens church' program.
I received a copy of this DVD from BookSneeze to watch and review. No other compensation was given.
The opinions expressed here are my own.

I was very excited when I had the opportunity to review this dvd! I could tell by the cover images that it was going to be something my 2 1/2 year old son would enjoy! He's sometimes pretty picky about what he will sit and watch, so it can be hard to keep his attention. The second I turned this dvd on, he was hooked!
I love that I don't have to worry about the message this dvd is sending out to my child. I can clearly see on the back of the dvd what each story will be about and what Bible story it relates to! I love that! I love that my children will learn about the Bible from watching a short dvd! There are 3 episodes included in this dvd, and the entire thing is only 45 minutes long. Definitely a must-see for anyone who has children that enjoy watching a few shows! Our family loves it!

I really like this series of videos. The lessons come alive in such a creative way that children are able to easily understand. There is enough familiarity with the original parable that parents can step in to discuss the meaning with their kids. This would be an excellent resource for church day care centers, Sunday School classrooms, VBS lessons and just to have at home. The DVDs are a wonderful source to teach the important truths Jesus taught. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
