Robert Austin, author of many books, is Professor at Copenhagen Business School and Associate Professor at Harvard Business School, where he chairs the executive education program for CIOs.

Richard Nolan, also a prolific author, is Philip M. Condit Endowed Chair in Business Administration at the University of Washington and Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, where he co-chairs the executive education program for CIOs

Shannon O'Donnell is a Consultant with Cutter Consortium's Innovation Practice; she is also Research Associate at the University of Washington and Visiting Researcher at Copenhagen Business School's Centre for Art and Leadership.

    Excellent book for both experienced and new IT or business leaders.

    Don't let the comic book cover and character art throughout the book fool you - this book is all business. Laid out as a "day-in-the-life" story in novel form, the book follows the trials and tribulations of a new CIO. Struggling to prevent the title acronym from signifying "career is over" the executive must learn what it takes to lead an IT function at the heart of a company's business strategy. People, process and technology are just the start. Relationships, politics, crisis management and communications also play a vital role. This is an excellent book for experienced CIO's, IT managers wanting to understand how to be a CIO as well as for business executives who find themselves having to deal with, or at least tolerate, the geeks from IT who keep providing roadblocks to implementing that great new technology that will drive the company to market dominance. Whether used by an individual ready, or as a teaching tool for a team or class, this is an excellent discussion igniter.
