Great for helping little readers become big readers.

Little Bear is a great way to start the reading process for very young readers. The stories and characters interest their imagination and along the way help them with some very important concepts: sharing, having all types of different friends, responsibility. <BR/>The stories keep the very young asking repeatedly to be read and are simple enough so that words become recognizable and easy to read themselves.

    Fantastic beginner book!

I bought this book to read to my kindergartener so he would see how fun reading was and he ended up reading it himself! He didn't want to wait until the next day to read the next story. Little Bear is right there on their age level. A fantastic beginner book!!

    more from this reviewer

    Adorable!

My parents would read these stories to me before my bedtime when I was little. I wouldn't sleep until they read at least one Little Bear story to me. Now I am an adult and i bought this book to share with the little kids in my life! I completely recommend it!

    Little Bear is the best

I enjoyed the adventures (and truly they are adventures) of Little Bear with my children and now I have the joy of sharing them with my grandchildren, too. Little Bear and his parents and his friends are people I like in my world.

    Wonderful series of stories.

I bought this collection because I want to have a copy to pass on to my grandchildren. My husband and I read the paperback versions of these stories to our two sons when they were little. We all enjoyed the stories and the illustrations. Our older books are fairly worn for use because they were among our favorite books. Really delightful stories.

    I LOVE THIS BOOK

This book was a favorite of mine when I was a little girl and it was also my son's favorite too. I remember many hours spent sitting on my bed sounding out words and learning how to read. The stories are simple, yet true to a child's innate behavior which is probably why they love it so. And the illustrations by Maurice Sendak are just delightful. I whole heartedly recommend this book for any child who is just learning or has just started reading!
