Gr 4 Up

While working with youngsters, Strother found that when he mentioned cherished games from his youth, today's children had no idea what he was talking about. This book challenges boys and girls to get up, get outside, and have fun. It outlines more than 100 games, each at different activity levels set by the amount of physical exertion required. "Kick the Can," "Cowboys and Indians," "Mother, May I?" "Crack the Whip," and "I Spy" are just a few of the activities explained. Each game discusses the number of players, ages, time allotted, and type of playing field, followed by a brief description of equipment, start-up, object of the game, and how to play. Boxed comments from the author include special instructions or a memory from his childhood. He also lists other ways that the game can be played. The easy-to-read, easy-to-follow format will provide hours of imaginative play for all of those who are willing to try. An excellent resource for parents, teachers, and activity directors and even for children themselves.-Cynde Suite, Bartow County Library System, Adairsville, GA

Great book - perfect for any kid

I've seen a few game books, but none with the volume and diversity of games as this one. I knew of few of the classics, but there are a ton I did not know and enjoyed reading. I've been teaching my son the few I know, but he is learning alot out of this book and using it with his friends. If you want to reminisce or teacher your children tons of fun games - this book hits the mark. Very user friendly, well organized, easy to read.

Terrific Ideas to Engage Kids in Healthy Activities

I was blown away by the wide range of activities detailed in this book. If you can't find something for everyone in this book, then you are weird! This book is worth it's weight in gold by providing entertainment for children and adults.

    Already love it!

Just got this book, and my two sons already love it! They had half a dozen kids outside in the yard playing games of tag I had never heard of... so nice to see a book that helps us parents get our kids outside for the summer! Easy to use, quick descriptions for the kids, a HUGE variety of games.
