Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
A dozen of the instructive tales appear in Aesop's Fables by Lisbeth Zwerger, including such favorites as "The Hare and the Tortoise,'' along with lesser-known parables such as "The Hares and the Frogs.'' Of the original edition published in 1989, PW wrote, "The text is crisp and succinct, the ink-and-wash illustrations are delicate yet often sharply revealing of character or mood." Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature
Twelve fables from the familiar "Fox and the Grapes" and "The Tortoise and the Hare" to the lesser-known "The Man and the Satyr" and "The Hare and the Frogs" are presented in this handsome reissue, complemented by Zwerger's signature ink and wash artwork. There is a balance to the wit and wisdom of the fables, as there is to the crisp layout of text on the left and illustrations on the right. Each moral is neatly furnished at the conclusion of the succinct fable. This reprint is a worthy collection for any library, classroom, or home bookshelf. 2006 (orig.1989), North-South Books, Ages 8 to 12.
