    A must read for anyone who is still a Patriotic American.

    I bought this book knowing full well the content would be excellent and detailed in it's relevance to American Decline. I was not disappointed. This book is a page-turning eye-opener for all who have somehow sleep walked throughout the past few decades. If you want to know truths about American decay and decline I suggest anyone with an open mind buy this book, read it, and wake up to the stark reality laid out by its author Mark Steyn. It is one of those books you can put on the shelf next to the best of the best in your collection. I would recommend it to anyone who has the objectivity to read into the subtle warning therein. A gripping and telling tale that will make you reconsider many of your sheepish views and even might wake you from a far too long apathetic slumber in regards to American stature in a World all too determined to see our nation fall.     Excellent!

    A fine read in typical Mark Steyn style. His "what if?" approach and theories for America's outcome if we continue to hurtle down the path we are now on. Parallels to the decline of European nations and the interaction of that bunch of nations and the United States...and how we can look like the 3rd world if we choose to continue in the downward direction we are being forced to travel presently. A sobering conjecture to make you think what things could look like if we don't abort this ride to doom.

    Eye opening and highly recommend read

    For those who love to keep on the cutting edge of information especially about this great nation that we live in. This book is another eye-opening, great detailed, informative book that would give great insight in where our nation is going.

    Mark Steyn is no stranger to controversy and to the particularly

    Mark Steyn is no stranger to controversy and to the particularly scathing vain of apocalyptic social commentary. In “America Alone” he addressed an increasing sense of isolation on the part of America in world that seems to be irrevocably sliding away from the many principles that had built the Western Civilization. Unfortunately, in the intervening years even America and Americans have been drifting away from those same values and principles, and in Steyn’s view are headed towards the inevitable doom. In “After America” he presents his case for this assessment.
    A doomsday books ought not to be this much fun to read. Steyn’s wit, erudition, and style are second to none in today’s polemical political punditry, and in his latest book he’s been combining them and using them to the max. He strips naked all the liberal sacred cows and reduces to the brutal essentials many of the big-state arguments from the left. Steyn argues that the recent encroachment on individual liberties in the US under the Obama administration, and a concomitant increase of the nanny state, are actively undermining the political and economic health of America, and make it far less competitive in the ever more treacherous seas of the changing geopolitical realignments. Aside form the economic uncompetitiveness, it’s the lack of leadership when it comes to individual freedom that is rapidly eroding America’s unique leadership position. As many generations of immigrants have known for well over two centuries, including Steyn and myself, America has for well over two centuries been a beacon to all who try to escape or overcome tyranny in all parts of the world. And in our view, the world without such strong and unique American leadership is a much more dangerous and uncertain world.
    Steyn is a very opinionated writer, and this is one of his main selling points, as well as one of his biggest liabilities. He has a particular set of opinions, and although most of them form a coherent right-leaning worldview, he has enough of the personal pet peeves thrown into the equation that it’s inevitable that some of that stuff will not resonate with all of his fans. I personally don’t see the decline of government-sponsored space program as part of the decline of America itself. The space program was conceived and executed at the height of the cold war and it had its own rationale and value in promoting the American know-how and acting as a stand-in for all of American technological supremacy. Unfortunately, in my opinion the space program has been a victim of its own success. Like all other government programs of that size and scope it de-incentivized any privately initiated space exploration ventures for the better part of half a century. As it has been successfully demonstrated recently with the launch of Space X, the private sector has fully caught up and is able to execute space programs on its own. If this trend continues or, even more likely, accelerates, then in the decades ahead we may witness the true renaissance of the space exploration, and America-based private ventures at the center of it.
    This book is a great read that provides a lot of insights and food for thought. However, it is an extremely partisan book and it’s unlikely that anyone who is not already persuaded by its premise will find it convincing. For those of us, on the other hand, who are concerned with the future of freedom in America and beyond this book can serve as a much needed and welcome call to arms.

    Highly Recommended

    After America Get Ready for Armageddon by Mark Steyn, talks about choices by politicians, citizens, leaders, and presidents that have lead America to Armageddon. Chapter six, Fall Beyond the Green Zone, stood out by stating how America¿s debt will be paid by countless generations to come. In this chapter, it explained how the government has spent money that we do not have, also known as ¿deficit spending.¿ Effects of deficit spending are unemployment and program cuts. Cutting back on money spent will make our economy will suffer more. When America borrows money to control deficit spending, America becomes in debt with other nations which puts America at a disadvantage. If America keeps borrowing from other nations it will take a toll on the future generations and will cause America to head towards Armageddon. After reading the book After America Get Ready for Armageddon, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to know the truth about America¿s past/present mistakes and how future generations will be affected.

    A Book You Love to Hate

    Steyn is not as humorous and witty as book cover reviewers would have you believe. He uses an age old technique of laying the foundation for his eventual rant with anecdotes about social, political and economic observations and situations which have you nodding in agreement. Then he lays out his conservative ipso facto: if you agree with Point A and B, then you must agree with the root cause of C.

    He is an example of why politics has gone beyond annoying to downright scary.

    Don't read this book...

    Don't read this book if you're already depressed about the way this great country is headed. If not for Mark's incredible wit, it would have been hard to endure to the end. Like Titantic, or the Halocaust, you know how this one is going to end, and it isn't pretty. He actually confirmed my suspicions. Good job, Mr. Steyn. I guess I'll see you in Texas pretty soon; right after the secession.

    Need to Brush up on Chinese Culture

    On p94 Mr Steyn states China will never rule the world, citing their one-child policy as the cause. Good enough. He's right, but there are other reasons, too: the US has garnered over 300 Nobel prizes, while China ties with Santa Lucia for two. Chinese culture is not innovative, which is why they steal technology from the West. Can't rule the world if there is no one left to steal from! Later on,he reverses himself.China's going to win after all... Mr Steyn refers on p 287 to Chinese and English keyboards in New Zealand. Come on! One goes to a virtual keyboard to type Chinese, then types it out in pinyin, a phonetic script. The computer figures out what character you're trying to enter,and inserts it for you.
