Devi knows she shouldn't trust the new employee at her favorite used bookstore. Sure, he's funny, smart and hands down the sexiest guy she's ever met, but something dark lurks behind his unassuming smile and sinful green eyes.

Still, a girl can't always afford to be picky. When an angel abducts your twin brother it should come as no surprise that the one person who can help you get him back is a demon--and only if you're willing to pay his price.

(young adult paranormal romance, 87,000 words or approx. 348 pages)

The second book in the Fallen Angels series, BELOVED PURGATORY, is available now!

Excerpt:
"You will do anything I ask," I whispered. The words hung in the air, a mantra spoken to the dark. His eyes lost focus and glowed softly as they narrowed in on my lips.

"Maybe this kind of devotion is sinful," I continued. "Perhaps it was even the origin of sin. But you and I are already damned."

He blinked, and the corners of his eyes began to glisten. Tears, I realized. They took on an emerald sheen from the heated look he gave me. I wiped his cheeks with my hands, drying those tears--erasing them. "Why are you the one crying now?"

"I just, I never thought..." He ran a finger up the side of my neck and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. My body tightened. "Will you let me?"

Before I could tell him how stupid he was being, he crashed his mouth into mine.

While reading After Eden I kept having one thought, "this is really freaking good!" I have been so privileged lately to have so many amazing self published authors, small publishing companies and more approaching me to read new books!! Thank you so much Katherine Pine, your book rocked my socks. It's a paranormal romance filled with Angels, Demons, and Devils. While the book has a kind of religious undertone I don't believe it to be a converting type book or even a I believe this way type book, it's just a great story with an awe inducing plot about Angels and fallen ones. Our main character never really confesses an opinion either way, I like books like that. In After Eden we meet Devi. Devi has lost both her father and her brother, has one friend, and doesn't enjoy shopping. She walks through life with caution and reads cheesy romance novels which is how she meets her favorite bookstore's newest employee, Oz. When Devi meets Oz, everything in her life changes. He's handsome, dark, a little mysterious, and very charming (and he likes cats), i mean seriously what a dream boat. While it may sound like another of those "sad girl meets boy and he changes her life when they fall in love" kind of books it also has more elements to drag you under with. Devi believes her brothers disappearance was her fault and wants nothing more than answers as to why he's gone. She might just get these answers thanks to Oz. There's a whole world existing right next to Devi's normal life and by being close to Oz she opens herself up to danger and truths that she may not want to know. "After Eden" has an incredible plot that kept me hooked well past the end. It's a book that makes you want the sequel right away. Pine is a great story teller, as in A-list story teller, she will make it to the top of the writers food chain. This book is a must read for fans of paranormal romance, especially those that love books about Angels, especially fallen angels, because everyone likes bad boys ;).

I found this story touching, and although it contained angels, demons, and devils it never went over the top. It definitely left me wanting more. I highly recommend it to fans of fallen angel stories.

This started wayyyyyyy to fast! Within maybe 20 pages she was asking the famous line "what are you?" after only meeting him for maybe 10 minutes :?

Its alright. Recommended if you REALLY love fallen angels or demons i should say and can endure confussion exceptionally well. A little lenghthy and at times dull. Lacks passion and romance. A lot of back and forth. I didnt like how the charactars grew to love each other after a couple days and a couple get togethers. But i liked the storyline itself alot although it was a tad bit corny. Worth the price however.

This was by far one of my favorite paranormal romances. I found the characters and storyline stood out from the typical paranomral romances and taken to a whole new level. Once I started reading it I couldnt put it down! I read it in a whole day, it was that good. I was laughing so hard through the whole book. I highly recomend it to anyone. I can tell you right now you wont be dissapointed.

I wasn't expecting much for a 99 cent book, but this was great! I literlly couldn't put it down, I was up until 3AM reading it last night. I can't wait for the next in the series to come out!

The storyline is great. But i felt like we didnt need to know every solitary emotion Devi was feeling at every solitary moment. And i dont know if it was my nook, but there were quite a few spelling and grammar errors, even when it came to characters names. And in some places information was needed where it was not, while in other places extra information was given but not needed at all. I also found that the story switched moods too quickly and too often, making the reading slightly tedious. I couldnt get a clear picture of Oz in my head until i was more than halfway done with the book, plus there was quite a bit of jumping around, which was confusing. The most crucial part that was missing i thought however was the lack of density and complexity of the characters. I knew who they were, but they werent quite ALIVE to me. Their actions thoughts and words seemed repetive and i wondered why new phrases werent used (this also goes with Devis seemingly constant sobbing and lungs being on fire and rib cage collapsing). But despite these minor inconveniences and the fact that at times it was only my curiosity of whether or not Devi and Oz would do anything more than kiss that kept me going, it wasnt a bad book at all. The plot was well thought out and humorous and at points i was actually laughing out loud and getting strange looks from my family. Those characteristics possessed me to buy and read the next book. I hope i dont have to skip any paragraphs in the next one, however.

This was a really good book! Once I got past the grammatical errors it was great. It flowed and the story line was good. I never wanted to put it down. I can't wait for the next onea!

The author of this novel had a good idea and was an interesting premise compared to other books that feature angels. The heroine (I use this term loosely), however, left me confused and annoyed. Devi had all the wrong reactions to everything. An angel who took her brother away willingly, she couldn't forgive. A devil who tried to kill her, forgiven right away. It made no sense. I also didn't understand how she fell in love with the hero of the book so quickly. He literally said a sentence to her and she was in love. All in all this book became more and more confusing as it went on and I could barely finish it. Maybe the book went too in depth? I'm not entirely sure. But the main character was a huge problem. She was too childish and whinny I just couldn't like her. I did like the idea behind the novel though and the cover art is awesome.

This book is one of the most amazing books i have ever read! I am a very slow reader and i just got into the habbit of reading. This book kept me entertained and i loved Oz. Devi was a funny, and shy teenager. I bought this book at 10 pm and finished it the next day and their is over 700pages in the book i love it so much!

From the blurb I figured the book is very much what I like to read, so I had high expectations for it. The beginning of the book was promising, but it watered down from there. Around the middle I got the impression the author was a bit lost and didn’t exactly know where she was going with it — to be short, it was rather boring without any real context or connection to the actual plot. In some ways the middle seems to be part of a fully different book than the beginning and end. Pine got the story back together for the grand finale, and in my opinion she did a good job with it. I do think the blurb promised a bit more than what the book delivered. Though it is a series, so we might get more of that on the latter books. However the main event on this book wasn’t getting his brother back. Devi was a likable enough lead character and Pine managed to make her a believable hot and cold teenager without being too annoying. Kim — Devi’s best friend — brought a little spice, but she was kind of forgotten after the first half of the book. Oz is a strange but nice guy demon who seems to do a lot of things for the sake of the plot, rather than for his personality. The premises was an interesting take on the Christian mythology — devout believers be aware, that it might be offensive to you. I wish some things would have been explained a bit more in the book, since for example I had to go and google the difference between spirit and soul to fully understand what was going on. I think the story has a lot of potential, but it’s quite clear it wasn’t ready for publishing and still requires editing. For example there’s a scene where Devi and Oz goes to have some pancakes and after they’ve ordered their delicious carb bombs, they are suddenly back in Oz’s car driving to the pancake place. To be honest I thought quite often, that I’d just mark this book as DNF, but I stuck through it. I think the author has talent, but this novel could’ve used a lot more work.

The plot is a little thin and the pacing uneven, but overall it's a decent read. Nothing overtly cliche and the characters are interesting.

I loved this. It is a more harsher take on fallen angels! I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed this one. I liked how the religious aspects were an integral part of the book. Most of the time I can't stand religion in paranormal books because it tends to be sanctimonious but not in this case. The author is clearly channeling some of my favorite movies on similar topics-Constantine, The Prophecy Series (the bit about monkey's is directly from this movie!) as is Forneus's attitude. There were some editing errors though so the book gets a 4 rather than a 5 (there were less as the book went on).
