After Hours

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Scott Yanow
The fiery cornetist Wild Bill Davison is heard in a rather sparse setting on this CD reissue, jamming 13 standards in a quartet with clarinetist Kenny Davern, pianist Charlie Queener and drummer George Wettling. Actually, the live set finds Davison sitting in with the Wettling Trio, and the results are generally quite exciting. Highlights include "I Never Knew," "Big Butter and Egg Man," "Song of the Wanderer," "Wolverine Blues" and "You're Lucky to Me." Enjoyable and spirited Dixieland.
