    Story of Developing Faith

After Miscarriage, A Catholic Woman’s Companion to Healing and Hope, is, on its most basic level, a story of developing faith despite the pain of multiple miscarriages. Author Karen Edmisten describes the family she and her husband have created as three children on earth and six others in heaven where she hopes to meet them one day. “As we have suffered through miscarriages we have gained powerful prayer warriors in Heaven,” she writes. On another level, the book is an inspiration to others suffering miscarriage, their families, and those who minister to them. Along with her own journal entries leading up to and following the time of each loss, Edmisten presents personal essays from others whose unborn babies have died. Each short chapter also contains a Did You Know section with suggestions for dealing with the immediate demands following miscarriage such as baptism, naming the baby, and the baby’s remains. Other did-you-know information addresses grief, support groups, and medical issues. A resources section includes books and articles, ministries offering spiritual and emotional support, blogs, memorial items and keepsakes, and medical resources.
