Barnes & Noble - Lisa Zhito
Donnie McClurkin must be the hardest working man in the gospel business. McClurkin manages to juggle sold-out tours, appearances on albums by friends such as Kirk Franklin and Bishop T.D. Jakes, guest shots on "Oprah," pastoring his Long Island, N.Y. church, songwriting, and his own recording career without missing a step. One could understand if a double-booked McClurkin took the easy route and issued a so-so record for once; after all, when does this man sleep? But no slacking is in evidence on this mesmerizing fourth release, Again, which showcases McClurkin's outstanding songwriting and beautifully impassioned performance style. Again takes McClurkin's signature blend...

But no slacking is in evidence on this mesmerizing fourth release, Again, which showcases McClurkin's outstanding songwriting and beautifully impassioned performance style. Again takes McClurkin's signature blend of R&B, contemporary gospel, and traditional gospel, wraps it all in a reassuring message of a loving God, and spreads the joy around for all to hear. Opening with the gentle title track, McClurkin uses beautiful melodies throughout this release to spread his message. This is surely one of the loveliest records of his career, as evidenced by such beautiful compositions as "Again," the exquisite "Heart to Soul" and the McClurkin-penned "All I Ever Really Wanted." Other standouts include his duet with Yolanda Adams on "The Prayer" (a song made famous by Celine Dion, performed with infinitely more conviction here) and the zesty "I'm Walking." One can't help but marvel at how McClurkin does it again and, er, Again.

    Pure Donnie McClurkin!

Best song was Create in Me.

    Moving and Inspirational

Again holds its own next to Live in London. My favorite song on the CD is Holy, and the DVD accompaniment is a must-have BONUS!!! I find the lyrics both "wise and insightful," ever-beckoning and ushering into the precious Presence of the Lord.
