Really liked this one. Nice Adventure story about a somewhat reluctant, maybe anti-hero loner type that is in the middle of helping multiple families after a social/economic collapse. Not some big nuclear war type thing but a realistic downturn where the country is moving back towards the ways of the old west. The main character is flawed but respectable... human. Not some know-it-all super human either which is a nice change. Ive never read anything from this author before but hes really good at connecting the emotions of the characters with you. I think this book is a part of a series but it holds up on its own really well. Would definitely recommend it.

Not another cookie cutter survival how-to manual disguised as a book, or another "look how good I am" type novel. It was a fun and realistic read which is rare in this genre IMO. The author has an intriguing style and the story kept me wanting more. I cant wait to read the next one.

Great story! I especially liked that this story isn't about superhero type survivors who blaze onto the pages with their expensive toys and unbelievable skills. Most are just your average Joe, doing their best to live to see another day. The characters are real, the event possible, and I can't wait to read more!
