Now Shel is left broken hearted and trying to figure out what she wants while watching Chase and the home wrecker make moon eyes at each other. Enter Matt Fuller, Shel's friend for the past 5 years and the perfect rebound. He's gorgeous, smart, funny and fits into Shel's idea of the right guy. Only problem is there may be more there than just a simple rebound. Is it a way to fill a void left by Chase, or is there more smoldering between these two friends? Find out what happens when the bell rings and the teenage drama ends and the adult drama begins. Who says being a teacher is boring? They obviously haven't met the teachers at Carver High.

Editorial Reviews

Goodreads - Catherine Bybee
This is what I call book candy. Julie Prestsater has a fun, flirty style about her that makes you turn the pages. I'm not a huge fan of first person books, and I'm always impressed when an author can carry an entire story from one character's point of view. Not only will you cheer on Matt and Shell, you'll probably never pick up a wine cooler again.

I found myself craving rice krispy treats and beer throughout this book.
And I don't drink beer.

Well played, Julie.
Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews - Slick Reads
Against The Wall by Julie Prestsater is one of the most enjoyable, funny, sexy, and laugh out loud funny books I’ve read in a long time … I can’t wait to read more from this talented woman who has several YA books out. Alas another writer who totally understands that teachers are real people who drink, dance, cuss, and yep…have sex! Oh, and we don’t live at school either…shocked aren’t you?

Fast and funny - a good read! The only caveat I have is the profanity - not that I have anything against profanity, but none of my fellow teachers dare curse like the ones in this book, even in private, for fear of what might pop out of our mouths in the classroom - or worse, in conference!

I'm a huge huge huge fan of Julie Prestsater's writing. Her YA D

I'm a huge huge huge fan of Julie Prestsater's writing. Her YA Double Threat series is one of my favorites so I was really happy to see she wrote a story about the teachers at Carver High. I had remembered the teachers in the series but didn't really really remember them until I read Against the Wall and I must say I loved getting to know them better.

The story is about Shel, an English teacher at Carver High, who has just had her heart broken by not only her high school sweetheart and fiancé, but by her co-worker. Dealing with seeing Chase every day is harder and harder now that he is dating another teacher at the school. With the help of her bestie Mel and hot teacher and friend Matty Shel finds that what she thought was true love may have been nothing close to it and love may be right in plain sight.

Honestly I loved watching the friendship of Shel and Matty grow and expand as it progressed. He was the best friend she could have and exactly what she needed. He didn't push her or press for something she wasn't ready for. He was supportive and just their for her. Basically every girls dream. :-)

Prestsater has managed to mix fun and emotion and laughter into this wonderful stories about teachers outside of the classroom. I can't wait to read more about Mel in the next installment.

Glad I did not buy this.

I was very dissapointed in this book. Good story line, but too many F words. Sex was way over the top. I am not a prude, but way over done. Leaves nothing to the imagination. If all her writing is like this, will not read her books.

    This one was good

This one was good. I guess I just thought the push and pull of the two main characters was too long and the ending wrapped up too quickly. Still a good read though

    Terrible!

These were supposed to be mature grown ups? Ifelt like I was listening to an ignorant teenager trying to tell a story. It was horrible.

Julie Prestsater has done it again! I've read the books in her Double Threat series and loved getting the chance to read about the teachers in this book!

Love it from start to finish. The characters were great! I loved Shel & Mel's friendship. Mel reminded me of my aunt. And what can I say about Matt? He is a great all around guy!! There were a few times I want to smack some sense into Shelly where Matt was concerned! Love taking the journey to finding love with them!

It started a little slow for me, but got a little better. They were teachers around 30ish, but it was a little high schoolish to me.

    Incredibly funny and sweet!

This is an author that you really need to keep up with, I don't think I have ever read a book (and I have read hundreds of authors) that made me laugh and tear up as much as this one. Maybe me and the author have the same sense of humor, I don't know but this book was fun and incredibly real. The characters are so down to earth and totally relatable it's like your developing a friendship as you read. Thank you Julie for such a great read and for free! Over 400 pages of fun, laughs and melt your heart moments. A MUST READ!!!!
