    DISGUSTING

This book fist and foremost should not be on the store shelves.
Reason One: Many of the Miami customers are Nasty old men who look in the sex section.
Reason Two: this book is not sealed so many children can easily pick it up and open it and be traumatized at an early age.
Reason Three: this book is in bad taste.

If anything it should be sealed and in the back and if a customer wants it they have to purchase it on the spot .

    omg

The images in this book are disturbing. Its on thing to show the innocence of girls as they grow into young women but this book is pornography. There is no way that those pictures were taken in the United States.I can't believe this book is in stores.

    Couldn't happen today...

I was shocked by the images in this book. A book like this could not be published in 2007. The photographer, no matter how talented, would be arrested for child pornography. There is nothing artistic about a naked 13 year old girl spread-eagled on the floor. You can't convince me that these images weren't intended to arouse pedophiles.

    'Twisted genious'

Age of Innocence is not one of Hamilton's best works. Although Hamilton's famous 'haze look' is clearly evident, many of his subjects poses are one dimensional. I experienced many mixed emotions upon viewing this work. On one hand, Hamilton definetely is a very talented photographer. Other photographers have borrowed his ideas and techniques. However, this work is controversial. Some of the captions under the pictures are extremely disturbing. Let me make one thing perfectly clear. None of the models are engaged in any sexual activity period. However, several pictures are suggestive and are on the borderline legally. I could not in good conscience keep this book. It made be feel very uncomfortable to have this book in my possession and in my house, so I returned it the Barnes and Noble. Hamilton is very talented, but he is a 'twisted genious.'

    an outstanding book

This is an outstanding example of photography of the young person at its best. Nothing obscene or disgusting about it. I plan to get a place in the sun also.

You can't go wrong with David Hamilton.

When I read that Christians were protesting this book at Barnes & Noble, I immediately ordered it through Barnes & Noble. (All the best things in life are controversial, right?) I have some other Hamilton books and all are reasonably good, so it would be hard to go wrong. I was right. It has some very attractive portraits of partially clothed females, nothing questionable or controversial that I could see, not even any children. (I kept wondering what was wrong with all the people who were trying to label this beautiful book 'obscene.') Although Hamilton indulges a bit too much in romantic haziness and vague hints of lesbianism for my taste, overall his photographs are consistently beautiful, and usually in beautiful settings. You can't go wrong with his books, and this book was no exception.

we concentrate too much on the subject.

i think some of us forget that in art, the subject is just a fractionof the whole. David is a great artist. i'm 35 years old and i've been a fan of his work since high school, my high school sweetheartgave me my first book and said'you'll love it, i do.' and i did, and still do.

    Child Porn? Hell No!

This was a fantastic book, but it sickens me all of the people that say it is child porn, or that it helps child abusers. If one were to look at other countries where they have no censorship like Japan, Russia, and most western Europian countries, they have a far lower child abuse rate. This book can not help someone to abuse a child. This is an artistic book. A great one at that.

I liked it and I am a female

My boyfriend seemed to be obssessed by David Hamilton pictures of young girls. I didn't understand this and I thought badly of it. Then I decided to look at this book. I liked it. The photographer took pictures capturing real girls , real beauty, and it is not in bad taste at all. I am buying all three books or what I can ,(being that they are rare) for my boyfriend for Christmas. I was wrong to feel as I did, I understand now why he likes the photography. He is also a photographer and he is good. he would like to be able to take pics like this but in America we look at it as bad. Is it really? I don't think so.And I am a mother of a daughter. It is however bad to have child porn or sex acts. This is NOT that. This is true art at its finest. What is wrong with most of America? Its not like this in Europe.
