This refreshing and easy to read book shows the social and cultural impact that Napoleon had on France and the rest of Europe. Rather than focus entirely on the military conquests Horne delves into the daily lifestyle of the Empire. Topics such as fashion, theater, and the numerous construction projects of Paris, are just some of the topics Horne discusses. This is an easy read and I recommend it for anyone who is interested in Napoleon and wishes to know more of the impact he had on France rather than just the accounts of his numerous battles.
