Overview

In the latest novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Scones and Bones, Indigo Tea Shop owner Theodosia Browning finds herself in hot water when a body surfaces at the grand opening of Charleston's Neptune Aquarium...

The opening of the aquarium is a major Charleston event, and Theodosia has been hired to cater tea, scones, and sandwiches for the private party to honor dignitaries and big buck donors. Things are going swimmingly, until Theodosia escapes the party for a momentary rest, only to discover the body of a man entangled in a net, drowned in one of the aquarium's state-of-the-art tanks.

To make matters worse, the victim is Theodosia's former boyfriend Parker Scully. The EMTs on the scene think Parker's drowning was an accident, but when Theodosia notices what look like defense wounds on his hands, she realizes that someone wanted Parker dead. The local police aren't keen on hearing her theory-especially because of her ties to the victim-so Theodosia knows that if she wants Parker's killer brought to justice, she'll have to jump into the deep end and start her own investigation...

INCLUDES DELICIOUS RECIPES AND TEA TIME TIPS!

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Childs’s lively 13th Tea Shop mystery (after 2011’s Scones & Bones) finds Theodosia Browning with a lot on her plate, what with her bustling Charleston, S.C., tea shop, a line of proprietary blends, and a hot new romance—and that’s even before she discovers the body of ex-boyfriend Parker Scully floating in an aquarium tank. Initially, the young restaurateur’s death appears to be a gruesome accident, but sharp-eyed Theodosia spots what look like defensive wounds on his hands. Theodosia soon finds a number of possible suspects, including some dubious characters with whom Scully had discussed business projects, and even more people inexplicably eager to shut down her investigation. Not to worry: detection frequently gets put on the back burner when Theodosia has to focus on one of her catering jobs. While series fans will no doubt relish every foodie tidbit, others may find that the many red herrings leave a bad taste. Agent: Sam Pinkus, Veritas Media. (Mar.)
Library Journal
Charleston heats up again in Theodosia's 13th outing (Scones & Bones) as the much-anticipated grand opening of the new aquarium goes awry. Complete with recipes and tea-related websites.

As a fan of the tea shop series by Laura Childs, I enjoyed this

As a fan of the tea shop series by Laura Childs, I enjoyed this latest book. In the last one, Theodosia's relationship with Parker was ending but it was a surprise to have his character killed off so soon, and even more of a surprise to discover he already had another girlfriend who becomes a suspect, along with several others who were involved with Parker on a business level in the competitive restaurant industry. As ususal, Theodosia and her employee and friend, Drayton, get caught up in investigating a murder that ends up putting them in danger.

I always like the recipes that are included from the tea shop treats described in the story. This cozy mystery was easy to read in one day and would be a good one to take along to the beach or on vacation this summer. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I received a copy of this book for review from the publisher but the opinion of it is my own and was not solicited, nor was a positive review required.

Loved the story by this author as always, but this Nook version

Loved the story by this author as always, but this Nook version was the WORST! Words run together on almost every page, and recipes at the end with ? in the ingredients of at least 3 recipes. Very disappointing quality!

Laura Childs never fails those of us who enjoy her tea shop myst

Laura Childs never fails those of us who enjoy her tea shop mysteries. This was another good one and along with the story I enjoy reading about all the "tea blends" Drayton comes up with. I purchased this book on my Nook and was so disappointed that many of the words ran together and distracted me from the story. It's too bad B&N can't get the bugs worked out of their electronic books - words running together, question marks that don't belong in the text. Sloppy, sloppy work. Not the fault of the author who continues to entertain!

Very enjoyable and always makes me hungry

I have enjoyed reading this series and just love the receips in the back. This is a great series for the devoted mystery reader to take up reading and not feel that they've lost insights into the characters by not having read the previous books.

    more from this reviewer

Another Tea Shop Winner! You will love it!

Laura Childs has, once again, created a brilliant adventure with Theodosia and her enchanting life in Charleston. The city comes alive in all its glorious ambiance, the tea shop as fun and cozy as ever, and the characters are true to their personalities.
Amidst all the fun and coziness, Theo manages to find herself in another exciting (and somewhat dangerous) mystery.
I'm looking forward to the next Tea Shop adventure!

    Good Read

I'm sure this will be great, but it hasn't arrived in my Nook yet as it doesn't officially come out until April.
