Description: This is a compilation of the most current American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines.
Purpose: The objective is to enhance the education of caregivers with a user-friendly, summarized and updated handbook.
Audience: The audience is broad and includes cardiologists, internists, general practitioners, and trainees looking for improvement in patient care.
Features: Each guideline is discussed by an expert in the field who summarizes the most relevant information, focusing on the most clinically useful data and showing how to apply it in an everyday clinical encounter. The chapters include the main features of the current guidelines, with a comparison to the previous ones and with other guidelines from different cardiology societies (like the European society of Cardiology). Many of the chapters include an interest point in performance measures and paragraphs regarding ongoing research efforts and future directions. The illustrations and tables are clear and easy to read. Interestingly, the book comes with a companion website that keeps the book up to date. There is also an updated list of links to AHA guidelines published since the book went to press.
