Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Sue Poduska
Part of the "Extreme Sports" series, this is a good introduction to the variety of activities available to kids on the move. The first sport discussed is skydiving, with the record for the highest, fastest, longest skydive. Base jumping and wingsuit flying are next. Readers learn about hang gliding and paragliding. Gliding and air racing are performed with aircrafts. The last sports introduced are hot air ballooning, kite surfing, and kite fighting. Many record jumps and rides are presented throughout the volume. The numerous detailed and spectacular photographs usually show athletes using the proper equipment to remain safe. Readers are also reminded to stay healthy enough to enjoy the activities without injury. Exercises for arm strengthening are described and recommended. The table of contents, brief glossary, "Find Out More" section with books and websites, and index help make this a useful guide. Just in time for the summer Olympics, readers can read about some Olympic sports. Reviewer: Sue Poduska
