Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Airports are among the most fascinating places to be. There is a seeming whirlwind of activity there, not to mention the comings and goings of lots of airplanes. Whether a child visits an airport as a traveler, a casual visitor, or someone waiting eagerly for a parent's return, he usually finds it a captivating place. This bright, easy to read title is part of the publisher's "A Visit To" series. Books in this series are designed to support elementary school instruction regarding the production and distribution of various goods and services in the United States. Large, bright photographs and simple text are used to encourage and support early readers. A glossary and resource page, which contain helpful and relevant Internet sites, are also included. The current title does not disappoint. It takes the reader through a typical airport, from terminal to cockpit. It also introduces children to the various rooms and personnel they may encounter— ticket counters, waiting rooms, and pilots. This book would be an excellent addition to libraries and would provide an ideal starting point for the earliest readers to learn all about airports. It will be especially ideal for children who are about to embark on their first plane trip. 2005, Capstone Press, Ages 3 to 5.
