Meet the Author

Lewis Bowling is an assistant professor in the Physical Education Department at North Carolina Central University and an adjunct instructor at Duke University. He has an undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University and earned a master's degree in sport fitness from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama, where he serves on the National Faculty. Lewis has taught sport coaching certification classes for the academy in Thailand and Malaysia. Lewis authored Wallace Wade: Championship Years at Alabama and Duke and has written articles about Alabama football for Bama Magazine, Alabama Alumni Magazine and Alabama Encyclopedia Online. Lewis has spoken about Alabama football to the Tuscaloosa Quarterback Club, the Selma Quarterback Club, the Monroeville Kiwanis Club, the Tuscaloosa Morning Rotary Club, the Tuscaloosa Kiwanis Club, the Tuscaloosa Exchange Club, the Durham Sports Club, the Raleigh Sports Club and the Southern Conference Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and has been interviewed on the Alabama Radio Network and other radio and television stations. He has written four history books on his native Granville County, North Carolina, and writes a history column called "Looking Back" for the Oxford Public Ledger. He also writes a weekly fitness column for the Durham Herald Sun and is a writer for Go Duke The Magazine. Lewis is the author of Resistance Training: The Total Approach and Duke Basketball: A Pictorial History and is a contributing author to Lifetime Physical Fitness. Lewis is married to Beth Harward Bowling.
