Although some of the language and attitudes are somewhate dated, this is great story telling. The free versions are difficult to read, but when edited, its a page turner. Find a 99? version and read it. Would make a great movie. The lawyer/detective/hero is a forerunner to Lord Peter Wimsey. Written as a contempory piece it is now a 'historical novel' This author writes in several different genre, and this one is one of my favorites.
