Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Elizabeth Young
Anyone looking for a quickly read sports biography can stop here. This work in the "Sports Illustrated kids: Superstar Athletes" series is sure to be a hit with baseball fans. Even non St. Louis Cardinal fans will find Albert Pujols a talented player and one to be emulated in a world full of seemingly corrupt sportsmen. No corruption here, as we learn of Pujols' beginnings in the Dominican Republic and a subsequent move to Missouri as a teenager. The pages are awash with vivid color photographs, all but one of Albert Pujols in action, along with easily read paragraphs and the occasional personal quote, making for an enjoyable presentation. For baseball neophytes, this will seem trite, as there are several mentions of statistics and unfamiliar terms, but those in the know will have no trouble following along and may even be amazed at just what a great player they are reading about. Earning the distinction of MVP is no easy feat! Following the text are helpful tidbits for further study: a glossary, references for further discovery, and index and timeline for Albert Pujols. Overall, it's a HIT! Reviewer: Elizabeth Young

    Albert Pujols.

Albert Pujols is probably the second or third best home run hitter in the national league.
