The French philosopher and writer Albert Camus won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1957 when he was forty-four years old. He was famous for his intellectual battles with the French philosopher and writer Jean-Paul Sartre, and his novel "The Stranger" achieved great popularity in which he discussed the alienation of twentieth-century man, and his book "The Myth of Sisyphus" was a faithful reflection of his existential philosophy. However, history judged Camus as a philosopher of mediocre value and a leftist divided against himself. Even worse, he was a defender of French colonialism in Algeria. However, in this new study, David Sherman presents a new, in-depth reading of all of Camus' works that reveals the strength and unity of his philosophical position. What his writings express in terms of his support for the political moral tendency indicates an integrity that places him among the greatest humanitarian voices of our time that have expressed the predicament of modern man. The study also highlights the importance of what Kami added to existential philosophy, through his works, both fictional and non-fiction.

About the Author
