Good but needs to be updated

This ebook is the second edition, while the first 164 are the same the stories are not. Great if all you need is the first 164 but going to big book meetings this is not very useful if you are doing a reading from the stories. Therefore this ebook did not meet the purpose i downloaded it for.

    READ THIS BOOK

If you started to read this book and it is not for a project than you probably need it. If it is for a family member it could be very useful to help you understand the disease of alcoholism.

If you started to read this book because you think you may have a problem with alcohol, well, you most likely do. If you need to see Similarities read some of the stories in the back. The first 164 pages is how it works. It is the instruction manual to freedom and a new way of living.

Give yourself a chance and try it, you are worth it. What have you got to lose that you haven't already? Remember it is only 1 day at a time.

    2nd Edition

This is a second edition book because the 3rd and 4th edition copies are still held under copywrite law by AA. Because its copywrite is expired, this edition can be distributed by another party. No money for the sale of this electronic text goes to AA. At the next general assembly meeting in New York the topic of realeasing AA literature into ebook format will be discussed and voted on. If the vote passes it still may take a couple years before we see current editions of AA literature available electronically where profits will go to AA World Services.

    Always a good buy!

There is no such thing as an 'out dated'Big Book. The first 164 pages have been helping miillions get, and stay, sober since 1935. It is worth it at any price.

Be AWARE AA Folks. This is the SECOND edition not todays 4th edition

This is the SECOND edition. So it is missing many stories like the Third and fourth edition have. One story that for sure isnt in this is "Acceptance was the key" by Dr. Paul.
I like having the nook version so I can put my notes on it like my big book but highly disapointed it is the second edition.
Maybe the head office wont realese the third or fourth edition for Nook??? I just dont get it.
Its still good to have the original 164 pages with me.

Its a good read for those that "want" it.

1 and 2nd stories. First 164 pages is 2nd edition. Wondering why the 3rd and 4th havent been released for eBook readers?

    The "Bible" of AA

What can I say? Everytime I read the "Big Book" I find something that I didn't see the last time I read through it. (an earlier edition of course) -- The Book isn't changing, maybe I am!

My hard copy is 24 years old and it looks it! It's nice to have it on my Nook so I can find those passages that always seem to come to mind. I think the Big Book and e-books are a great combo -- give it a try, the price is certainly right.

If you don't get a Big Book for yourself, there is certainly someone in your life who may need one.

If you want to change your life, you must own this book!

I have read countless self-help books, attended many seminars and workshops and listened to dozens of programs designed to help you achieve more and be happier. I can honestly say that none of those experiences taught me what this book did. The stories and no-nonsense approach to taking accountability for your life had me seeing changes almost instantly. I still can't believe the difference it has made in my life. I am happier, healthier and more loving than I have ever been in my entire life after reading and working through the steps. It is a book for ANY addiction, whether yours be drugs, alcohol, food, shopping, etc. Much love and luck in your journey!

Can be very useful when working with others

I have read the other reviews and it seems that others are disappointed in this because it is only the second addition...SO WHAT!!! It still has the original 164 pages of the Big Book unchanged...the stories will change with each new edition printed but does not bother me because they are only stories of how others developed and maintained a relationship with thier Higher Power...if you read on page 36 of this ebook it will explain what the stories are there for...concentrate on the first 164 pages. I will enjoy this because I can take it with me EVERYWHERE!

    Beware!! Out-dated edition!!!

Beware!! If you are considering purchasing this book. It is NOT the third edition. It is the second and hundreds of pages short of the edition you may think you are getting.

    Rip off

This version only has 300 pages and the contents are missing just some jumbled letters. Fourth edition not available. At least 1.99 version has contents and most stories from 1st and 2nd editions. Disapppointing.

    The 1st 164 pages...

Are what matters. To be able to conveniently have the Big Book with me 100% of my day is fantastic!

    more from this reviewer

This is the second edition published in the 50's, not the current 4th edition.

It is misleading to not say up front that this is not the current edition. It is in the fine print. But I did not imagine that B&N was selling an outdated book and not calling it "vintage" or some such indicator.
