Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Alex is a boy on a mission. He is positive that his life would be perfect if he only had one thing . . . hockey equipment. His parents do not understand this need, however. They keep telling him to be patient, it is too expensive, maybe his aunts and uncles will help buy it. Alex knows this will not happen and he needs a jersey now. That is when he gets the great idea to make his own jersey. This book is one of the "Read-it! Reader" series designed for early readers. The pictures are colorful and humorous, and are accompanied by one to two paragraphs per spread. The vocabulary is challenging and the sentence structure complex. This is a book for readers who have mastered the basics and are moving into longer literary pieces. It is also a great "boy book" to interest less than eager male readers. 2005, Picture Window Books, Ages 6 to 8.
