Overview

Heather is exhausted most of the time. Holding down three jobs, trying to finish high school and caring for her elderly grandfather and son are all she knows how to do.
Alexander doesn’t know if he wants to like the feisty baker. She has a smart mouth, beautiful, and makes his blood stir like no one ever has. But he can’t trust. Not anyone. Not with his heart, not with his money and especially not with his love. He decides that while he wants her, he’d just leave her alone and go about his business.
Already broke and barely hanging on, an apartment fire robs them of everything they own. The little family doesn’t know what they are going to do. Devastated, she throws herself on the mercy of Alexander James and strikes a bargain. She’ll sleep with him if he helps her and her little family get back on their feet. Alex agrees.
Alexander wants the sexy baker in the worst way, and when they come together the attraction can’t be denied. But can they breach the walls that they’ve built around their hearts and learn to trust?

Meet the Author

Hello! My name is Kathi Barton and I’m an author. I have been married to my very best friend Sonny for at times seems several lifetimes – in a good way, honey. And together we have three wonderful children and then the ones we brought into the world - Paul and Dale Barton, Jason and Wendy Barton and Danielle and Ben Conklin. They have given us seven of the greatest treasures on Earth. They don’t live at home seven days a week! No, seriously, seven grandchildren – Gavin, Spring, Ben, Trinity, Sarah, Kelly and Kian.

Ms. Barton hit me good with this one. I found myself choked up and fighting the tears on this touching story about Alexander and Heather. I found myself loving these characters and the ones involved with them. This will be another series I am going to follow that Ms. Barton has written for us.
Alexander has decided to sell his share of A&B Computers with his good friend Brick Wells to be closer to his family. He’s a computer programmer and with a heavy heart his share is being sold to a sinister guy named Mik. Mik wants to be able to live free of charge and knows that Alex can make that possible if he eliminates his partner and him. Heather’s life is hard. She works 2 jobs, goes to school, and is raising her son, Jack along with her grandda, Tom. She works at the House of Aroma’s bakery. Alex stops by the bakery one day and happens to save Heather’s boss, Miss Caroline, from being attacked. He’s grown attached to the bakery & finds he has a new little friend named Jack. Alex meets Heather thru the bakery and instantly has a connection with her. Is Alex able to save Heather from the hard life she has known since 15 years of age and being on her own because of a horrible situation that her mother refuses to believe happened to her? What will Mik do to get what he wants and how many people will get hurt by him? Can Alex protect the ones he loves? I fell in love with the James family. Willow and Jared are wonderful people. Alex’s mom and dad are a dream come true. Not only are they a tight family, but a family everyone wishes they had. Very well written Ms. Barton.
