Actually read these books on my Kindle...didn't know B & N had them. Anyway I had skipped over them so many times, but one day I decided to read the reviews. They were all favorable so I bought Alfonzo and read it. I was so glad I did, then I immediately purchased all the other books in the series.
I'm going to sum up the entire Alfonzo series into this one review. Here goes - GET THEM!!!! You will not be disappointed. Yes, it’s a mafia book and there is murder in it but it’s also about love, loyalty and family – not just blood related.
Things happen in these books that make a person wonder about the world we live in today. You will fall in love with all the characters. Geo was my favorite.
S.W.Frank does an awesome job writing these books. She kept them interesting; action packed and added a touch of humor. I even learned a few swear words in Italian ¿
These books are so good they should be made into a movie - and it would be one heck of a movie.

Am taking BACK my previous review left on June 24 2013.I complained about the grammar, different POV etc… Well am about to buy book 13 (Affliction)!!!
The grammar /spelling situation greatly improves throughout the books. This series is just so awesome! Since I already bought the first few book in the series I continued to read them.AM SOOOOOOOO HAPPY I did. Honestly, I can admit when am wrong. I was too quick to judge and am very happy to have found this series. Shanda is my girl! Geo my man! Alfonzo and Solange…just WOW. And I can’t forget about Nico. I Love them all for different reasons!!! Buy this series! You will NOT be disappointed.

PS. For the skeptics, I am really the one who left the previous review and I just hope that it did not sway too many people away from this GREAT series. Keep it up S.W!!!

Reviewed by Janiera Eldridge for Readers' Favorite

Alfonzo by S.W. Frank is the first book in the Alfonzo book series. This series follows a young gangster named Alfonzo Diaz. In the first book, we learn about Diaz's gangster ways and his mental battle about keeping up with the street life and going legit. After a horrible tragedy that seems to follow him around like the plague, he meets a beautiful girl named Selange who will make all the difference in his life. Will this thug be able to make a smooth transition to being a full time Mafia don?

I enjoyed Alfonzo by S.W. Frank from beginning to end. The author did an amazing job of blending the street life with the more polished Mafia life. As someone who doesn't enjoy pure romance, this book was wonderful at blending mystery and suspense with a sizzling love story. I mean some scenes literally scorch the pages. I got so caught up in the relationship between Alfonzo and Selange. The plot twists and the ever developing story line just rolls through the pages. There is never a dull moment because every bit of it keeps you on the edge of your seat. Every character has a purpose, no matter how big or small, and there are no wasted chapters or pages. My only complaint is that some events towards the end of the book happened a bit too quickly to be totally believable, but that didn't leave me totally unsatisfied with the ending. This book is perfect for those who love street lit, romance, action, or a blend of all these things. I know I can't wait to read the rest of this sexy, fun series.

Alfonzo is all that and a bag of chips

Wow! Al was so bad, he was good! He was strong and loving to the bone. Yet, he was ruthless! I'm hooked. Him speaking Spanish and Italian, along with English... woo hoo!! Sexy. Can't wait for the next book. After reading this one, I immediatedly bought the rest (between BN and Amazon, I got them all!) Now I need the last one Ms.Frank. It's not fair to leave us hanging.... hurry!

I read the whole series and want more!!
EXCEPTIONAL, well-written, highly original without the cliche plot. Alfonzo isn't domineering and he respects Selange. There isn't a bunch of BDSM nonsense and Alfonzo isn't abusive. How he and Selange meet is sad but  what I loved the most about the story is the dialogue between the couple. I hope someone takes this story in to a movie. It's really  exceptional!

    Buy It Now Don't Hesitate!!

I found out about this series on a the romance junkies blog and so glad I did. I was a loyal Nook owner, love and swear by B&N. These books are not available on Nook last month and I was livid. All I saw was 5 star ratings positive comments and said I have to have them. I contacted the woman who maintains the blog and she emailed the author and the author actually responded! I was so ecstatic and it pushed me to pursue buying the books even more. So I literally invested in an iPad just to read this series and I absolutely have no regrets. I love Al and Selange, I love the action, the twists and the turns. I love the moments I hold my breathe and others when I am screaming revenge as if I am a character in the series. Heck Al has me ready to learn Spanish. I have read the entire series in less then a week and awaiting book 8! I am like a stalker for this series and proud of it. The world of Al takes you in and holds you captive. SW Frank the author is trying to place Al and the familia on a shelf to finish some other works.....Nooooooo! I support the other works; but I need a multi-tasking of novels so Al doesn't leave us. Soooooo, I am asking "YOU" as a fan to go to her Facebook page and send her a message, post on her wall, inbox her, like her page, and most importantly tell her don't put Al on the shelf!! Read the series and trust me you will feel the same!! Muy Bueno!!!

Good read,if you can look past the grammatical errors

Good read. Likeable characters. But sometimes it feels as if the author just discovered a thesaurus! Its very annoying but I like Selange and Alfonzo so much that I gave it a chance. Satisfying read but by far not the best.

PS: Don't be fooled like I was and buy the rest of the series.. The grammer gets worst. Too many POV. Too many aliases. The author is all over the place. Save your money and by another series.

Book Review for Not Just Make Believe

Sookoo pens a lighthearted, yet complex contemporary romance with "Not Just Make Believe." Set in modern day Indianapolis, Sookoo's characters come alive against a vivid Christmas backdrop.

Andrea Petercheff is on her way to a job interview with the manager of a fancy hotel, Howard. As she rushes through the lobby, she runs into Maxwell Gildenthall - literally. He's a handsome stock broker who Andie believes is out of her league. What she doesn't realize is that she's set off a slow fuse in his heart.

Max lives in the hotel with his nine-year-old niece, Piper. Piper is a precocious girl always up to her ears in an adventure. It doesn't help that Max is always working and barely has time for his young ward. When he goes overseas to London, Howard puts Andrea in charge of watching Piper.

Piper is the princess of mischief, and Andrea has to use all the tricks in her book to get to know her. She soon learns that Piper loves Disney movies, and on a deeper level, Piper yearns to have a family of her very own.

When Max returns from England, he's impressed with how his young ward has taken to Andrea. Deciding to take a chance, he asks Andrea to go out to dinner. Andrea is a little overweight and self conscious, hiding behind a mask of sarcastic quick wit. She soon realizes that Max is hiding something, too - his heart. Piper's parents and his girlfriend were killed on 11 Sept 2001, and he's been avoiding having to deal with the hurt and pain.

Despite their insecurities, Andrea and Max slowly learn to open their hearts. Unfortunately, their plans for Christmas Eve go terribly wrong when Max and Andrea have a disagreement over him going to work. Can Andrea and Max work things out to give Piper the family she's always wanted?

Sookoo's voice is fresh and exhilarating. The story is told in the first person by Andrea and Sookoo has captured the character's voice down to every rhythm.

Sookoo's writing shines. The plot flows effortlessly and there's never a dull moment with Andrea.

The characters are vibrant and complex. Andie hides behind a prickly attitude that begins to warm as she learns about Piper. Piper believes in make believe and she thinks make believe just might become real between Andrea and Max. Max is handsome, but his heart is covered in gothic darkness. As his heart begins to emotionally beat again, he realizes that what he's feeling for Andie is both thrilling and scary.

The novel is sweet for romance readers with several sensual kisses. Overall, "Not Just Make Believe" makes fairytales come to life.
