Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. When internationally renowned fashion designer Jean Luc Le Croix hires Madison 'Maddie' Springer to design the shoes his models will wear during Fashion Week, the Californian screams with euphoria. However, she quickly learns the people rule of gravity in which she who goes up must crash down when psychic Mrs. Rosenblatt accidentally hits her because she could not figure out how to use her new stick shift car. Making matters worse, Maddie¿s mom and Mrs. Rosenblatt insist on accompanying her to Paris to help her get around since she now has broken leg.----------- Things turn darker in Paris when someone uses a Maddie shoe with a stiletto heel to kill the lead model Gisella. Maddie's best friend Dana arrives to replace Gisella as the show must go on. Soon after that Maddie's boyfriend, LA homicide detective Jack Ramirez comes to Paris to keep her out of further trouble, but more corpses follow all tied to Maddie¿s shoes, which makes her the prime suspect of the Gendarmes.--------- The fourth ¿High Heels¿ amateur sleuth tale ( see KILLER IN HIGH HEELS, SPYING IN HIGH HEELS and UNDERCOVER IN HIGH HEELS) is a fun entry as Maddie¿s chick lit big mouth sends her into trouble with the cops, the Paris fashion world, and the killer. Every time she speaks she gets deeper in trouble and someone from stateside shows up intending to rescue her they are like the movement¿s motto of ¿we¿re here to help you¿. Readers will laugh with Maddie¿s dilemma as her ALIBI IN HIGH HEELS unravels leaving the audience to wonder if her next gig is a convict in high heels designing prison shoe wear.-------------- Harriet Klausner

Ten Fun Facts from the Book:
1. Picture Mrs. Rosenblatt in her mumu doing the cancan.
2. Maddie gets her detective skills from Law and Order and mimicks Charlie’s Angels once again.
3. Maddie gets banned from wearing high heels.
4. When Maddie’s mom helps Mrs. Rosenblatt’s with her image, drag queen comes to mind.
5. We visit Paris, London, and Milan. What a road trip.
6. Maddie does not speak Italian which tends to be a problem when she needs to call the police.
7. Mrs. Rosenblatt’s new vehicle is a yellow sports car.
8. Confessing to being a killer is not a good idea.
9. Gucci’s vs. Scissors. Which one wins?
10. A huge surprise at the end of the book.
Again, I adored this book in the series. There is no staleness with the story and plot. The characters are still fun and invigorating. Of course, we are introduced to new characters who are just as connectable. (If that’s a word?) Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

I flew through the first three books and I realized that other reviews were right, a lot of the plots are the same. I know it's a romantic suspense, but all the novels Maddie gets thrown into a homicide investigation, feeling the need to be a part of it her friends and family start gathering evidence and are about to solve the case when POOF! There's Maddie with a revelation that's completely off, but some how leads her to the killer, she gets threatened and by some miracle she's saved!
After finishing this novel I've realized I absolutely detest Maddie and Ramirez as a couple. I'm surprised that I didn't see it earlier. They are a horrible couple. I don't understand why the two of them are together, they spend the majority of the book upset at each other, throwing snide comments back and forth and refusing to even talk. But the second Maddie gets into a bit of trouble Ramirez is there, warning her yet another time to stop investigation and every time she promises, but crosses her fingers behind her back.
Then at the end of the novel they tear at each others clothing and Ramirez somehow makes it all better by telling her she's amazing and wonderful and poof everything is good.
I know a lot of people have mentioned that she should be together with Felix. I on the other hand wish Felix stays away from her, she's a train wreck and everytime he does help her she manages to get him into all sorts of trouble.
The one plus about this book is I found Maddie's mom, Mrs. Rosenblatt and Dana a little more tolerable.

If you read more than one book from this author, you will see the same plot in each one...not very creative with unlikely scenarios
