I'M GETTING SOME BAD MARA VIBES

Alice Seno's life just gets more and more complicated. Not only did she banish her older sister Mayura to another dimension out of jealousy, because she always got her way in the Seno household, and she was also the girlfriend of the person Alice loves but doesn't have the courage to tell, Kyo Wakamiya....(whew), I'm out of breath!!!! But this is shojo manga. As Alice and Kyo continue to look for Mayura, a new character shows up, Frey, who is also a Lotis Master, and declares that he is destined to marry Alice...oh boy. We get a little more explanation of the forces that shape the world of Alice 19th in this volume. Most of this installment has to do with Oishi, one of Alice's classmates who ALSO (join the club) is in love with Kyo. The problem is that in Alice 19th, all the negative feelings, or 'Mara', that people have are manifested in the inner heart of the world. Kinda like the dark side of the force in the Star Wars saga. It can take you over. The job of the Lotis Masters is to use their powers to exorcise this darkness from the world. Once again, the art and characters in this series are excellent. Even though the concepts are fantastic, the relationships are very realistic without being childish. This is a great series.

    wOOt!

This is, quite possibly, the best manga ever! I loved Fushigi Yugi, so when I heard about this I picked it up and took a look at it. From what I'd read at the VIZ website, it didn't seem like much, but when I read it, I was just... wow. And this is so much better than vol 1!! And it's going to get better because, being the impatient little manga fan i am, I got a text translation and read all 7 volumes. It's only seven! T_T but im sure they'll all be good. Ok, now to the reasons why I like it: Art: The art is so cleanly and neatly drawn! Watase seems to make no mistakes! Storyline: The story is SO good! In this volume it begins to form, but in volume three it gets even deeper (not spoilin nuthin')... Characters: The characters are so... likeable! Kyo is cool, and Alice is... well I'm able to connect with her. Ceres's Aya was wierd and Miaka from FY was a spaz. Frey is likeable (norwegian!) but a bit of a pervert... and Mayura annoys me. But shes the bad one, so it's not really a problem. Overall, this is my favorite manga and I really love it and I can't wait until I get the third one.

    Heads Up for Alice 19th!

This is most likely one of the best manga out there.Yu Watase has done a FANTASTIC job! Her drawings are more clear and modern. In this manga she concentrated more on the main idea(Lotis Masters) than on romance.(don't worry, there is still the romance that some of us desire.)I have never seen a heroine like Alice. She's sweet and caring, yet shy and courageous.I am sorry to say this but Yu Watase's books are a bit sluty. But this manga (luckily) isn't like that. This manga isn't like the other ones. Ceres, celestial legend was a bit melodramatic and unrealistic.Fushugi Yuugi is kind of weird and dorkish.Alice 19th is funny, romantic, has some real action, the characters aren't at all evil but controled by evilness, and the plot is great.(Who could have thought of Lotis Masters?)The plot is something that doesn't make you think. It's just flowing and blends perfectly.

    LOVE IT!!

Alice 19th is another great work from Yu Watase. Read it because you won't be disappointed at all! I can totally relate Alice's character to me. There usually aren't heroines like Alice.

    A must read!

Yu Watase knows what she's doing when it comes to stories. If you're looking for a story with magic, humor, and unrequited love, then this is a must read for you!
