Alice @ 97.3: This Is Alice Music, Vol. 6

All Music Guide - Johnny Loftus
This sixth volume of Alice @ 97.3: This is Alice Music follows a similar formula to its brethren, mixing familiar singles with alternate versions from artists friendly to the Bay Area FM outlet's adult alternative format. This sixth volume of Alice @ 97.3: This is Alice Music follows a similar formula to its brethren, mixing familiar singles with alternate versions from artists friendly to the Bay Area FM outlet's adult alternative format. But while past volumes have been heavy on acoustic material, remixes seem to be the focus this time around. Elsewhere, Norah Jones delivers a typically tasteful, effortless, live version of her hit "Don't Know Why," while Jimmy Eat World prove to be old softies with a version of "Middle" that replaces the original's peppy post-new wave groove with a medley of warm acoustic guitars. A quiet, live "Pinch Me" shows off the Barenaked Ladies' wit, as well as their instrumental chops -- the touches of accordion are particularly nice. Alice @ 97.3: This is Alice Music, Vol. 6 is sure to appeal to fans of the series, as well as longtime listeners and first time buyers.
