"Foster’s treatment of the source material has only enhanced my appreciation for this classic story." - Blogcritics

"The book was well written, it filled in a few gaps in the film that I didn’t know needed to be filled until I read them, and it put the film in a different context, which may color my next viewing.  If you consider yourself a fan of the film, it’s worth checking out." - Top Hat Sasquatch

"A hell of a fun and terrifying read. It’s one I recommend to anyone who loves the film or a good old fashioned sci-fi romp through the hell in our stars." - Ravenous Monster

“In text form the primal dread conjured by its events and themes is as timeless as the cold and empty darkness from which it spreads. 9/10.” - Starburst

Alien: The Official Movie Novelization 4.9 out of 5 based on 0 ratings. 8 reviews.

Enjoyable and fast paced. Slightly different than the movie which struck me as odd since this was the official movie tie-in and the book was published 35 yrs. after the movie. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because nowhere in the book does the author describe the adult version of the alien. Since the movie came out in 1979, most everyone has already seen it and we have that preconceived notion of how the alien looked and acted. Those details are missing in this book. So, if you hadn't seen the movie, it's lacking in the most important details of the story. If you enjoyed the movie, you will like the book overall. It does give you some deeper insight into the human characters and their relationships with each other.

Really enjoyed this book. Reading it lends so much more understanding than the movie gives, also there are somevdifferences which make it so intetesting. I also liked the way the characters were portrayed. Much different than the movie. Much better in my opinion.
