Overview

Super-Being Exterminator Kitty Katt and the Alpha Centaurian she loves, Jeff Martini, should be finalizing their wedding plans. But that was before she discovers Jeff is in line to become Emperor back on his home world. Kitty knows she is everything a royal family wouldn't approve of, and is bracing herself for the worst. As it turns out, the royal family is just the beginning. Especially when extraterrestrial Amazonian terrorists are determined to start and end Kitty and Jeff's nuptial festivities with a bang.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Marketing manager Kitty Katt (Touched by an Alien; Alien Tango) is set to marry the alien of her dreams, Alpha Centaurian Jeff Martini, until she discovers he is about to become Emperor of his home planet—and she is not precisely the girl his parents want as empress-to-be. The intrusion of Amazonian terrorists from outer space adds more trouble to an already tense family situation. VERDICT Aliens, danger, and romance make this a fast-paced, wittily written sf romantic comedy.

Meet the Author

Gini Koch lives in the American Southwest, works her butt off (sadly, not literally) by day, and writes by night with the rest of the beautiful people. Touched by an Alien, the first in her Alien/Katherine “Kitty” Katt Series, received a starred review from Booklist and was named one of Booklist’s Top Ten adult science fiction and fantasy novels of 2010. Alien Tango releases December 7, 2010, with Alien in the Family releasing April 5, 2011, and Alien Proliferation coming in Winter 2011. Gini started writing as an excuse to stay up late playing on the computer while listening to rock music and mooning over pictures of hunky men. She's thrilled all that drooling has finally paid off.

    A charming romantic sci-fi tale

Kitty Katt the human and Jeff Martini the Alpha Centaurian are in love and planning their wedding in Vegas. However, the human learns her hunk exiled from the nearest star has through attrition over the decades (time is relative) become the heir to the empire. Kitty who had trepidations now has Olympus Mons doubts that her résumé as an exterminator qualifies her as a future queen especially when she must pass the royal worthiness examination.

Besides the Martini royal horde invading Sin City, outer space Amazon terrorists plan to introduce the couple and their guests to the big bang theory. The CIA and the Centaurian Division are outraged by the audacity of testing Kitty. However she has one thankful thing going: whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

The third zany kill Kitty Katt science fiction tale (see Alien Tango and Touched by an Alien) is an amusing over the top of the combined miles of Animas, Hatchet and Chiricahua Peaks romantic sci-fi thriller. The jocular exciting story line is faster than the speed of light as the heroine struggles to get married while the universe seems to voice their opposition. Readers will enjoy this bizarre totally out of control yet fully entertaining adventures of a woman just wanting to marry her hunk from outer space.

    Loved It!

Awesome series. As always there is a lot going on in this book, but it flows so well together that it keeps things exciting and fun. My favorite part of the book is the wedding, and I hope everyone reads this series.

Sci-Fi Romance Can it get any better?

Ok so yeah like most sci - fi romance there is a cheese factor but it's a good cheese factor that only adds to the humor these books have. It's another great fast pase read that I couln't put down until it was done and can't wait for the next installment.

    Love, Love, Love these Aliens!

I've had such a good time reading these books....I can't wait for "Alien Proliferation!"

These books are for those who like a little romance (okay, a little hot sex!) with their science fiction...although you don't have to have read the other books to figure out what's going on, I really recommend it...if for no other reason than why miss out on any of the fun...these are light hearted romance/science fiction novels...not too heavy on the science, but aliens, gates, paranormal abilities and Psycho-Physical Barriers....

Although not the normal book club fare, with the right group of people, you could have interesting discussions on fanaticism (and I don't mean the kind that most people think happen at most science fiction conventions), marriage, weddings, relationships and chess.

    Yeah, I love these books...

    Another Great Kitty Katt Tale

At the time of this writing, all of the posted reviews are from women. I'm mainly writing this to say that guys can enjoy both this book and especially the series as a whole. The author has found a winning formula that involves mixing a not-too-scientific Science Fiction plot with unending action, a lot of humor and dashes of romance and sex. She dextrously blends those elements into a thrillride of a story without ever letting one piece of the formula occupy your attention for too long or bog things down. The series, of which this is the third installment, is wildly entertaining reading that never gets old, and never becomes boring.
As for the story, well, (a) I hate plot synopses, and (b) it's difficult to discuss the plot without revealing multiple spoilers. Let's just say that the two main characters of the series - - former marketing whiz Katherine 'Kitty' Katt and her boyfriend/alien Jeff Martini - - are getting married. Before the big day can arrive, many obstacles (mostly coming from other planets, of course) need to be overcome. Three quarters of the book details the typically complex and rapidfire plot, and the final quarter is taken up with the actual wedding.

This is a great and highly entertaining series. I've recommended it to several friends, and all of the ones who took my advice on reading it have enjoyed themselves. You will, too.

    Another Awesome Effort by Koch!

If you have read my reviews of Touched by an Alien and Alien Tango, then you are probably aware of my obsession with this series. It is easily one of my favorites of all-time and Kitty is hands down, my favorite narrator.

With the first two books in the series, Koch has set the bar amazingly high and Alien In The Family certainly doesn't let you down. I will try my best to refrain from including spoilers for the first two books, but please be warned, some minor details may be touched on.

In Alien in the Family, all of our favorite characters are back and simply as wonderful as ever. Kitty and Martini are still going strong and all of Kitty's boys are back in the game. Christopher takes more of a side role in the third installment, while Reader is given more screen-time, so to speak.

Kitty is, as always, spunky, sarcastic and incredibly fun. Like I said before, she is probably my favorite book narrator, because she is such a spitball. She has a no-nonsense attitude, she doesn't take crap from anybody, has phenomenal taste in music and will not change for anyone. Honestly, if you haven't read this series before, I encourage you to go back and read my reviews for the first two books - I describe the cast of characters in great detail.

As far as plot goes, it's the format that we've come to expect and love with these books. There is some crazy world-dominating plot going on that Kitty and the boys have to investigate. As always, there are multiple plans going on and they have to wade through everything to determine what is exactly happening. This time, our cast is faced with a variety of aliens, including a planet of lesbian amazons who are determined to bring their galactic war to earth.

While all of this is happening, Jeff and Kitty are trying to plan their wedding. This means we get to meet some new characters, including Kitty's extended family. In Alien Tango, we were introduced to Jeff's family and believe me, Kitty's is just as crazy. I am particularly fond of her Nana Sadie and Nona Marie.

Kitty and Jeff are rarely separated in Alien in the Family, so we are treated to tons of wonderful moments between the two. I have always been a fan of their banter, and there is an abundance of it here. We are also given a number of scenes between Reader and Kitty; their relationship is really explored in this installment. I have always been a fan of their friendship; Reader just gets Kitty.

I am going to wrap this up, because I don't want to get into too many series spoilers, but believe me, Alien in the Family is a great installment to the series. On a final note, I desperately want a poof - which is the official royal pet of the A-C royal family. Trust me, you will want one too!

    Fast,Funm Fabulous SF read!

This series could be renamed "Almost every guy loves Kitty" It is the Aliens and Earthlings who don't love her that seem to be causing her problems. The folks from Alpha Centauri don't want Kitty to marry the heir apparent, studly Jeff, and are trying to prove she is unworthy. But aliens beware, don't mess with an earth girl in LOVE. She is more than willing to kick alien a** whether parasites, amazonians or prejudices.

The story is fast, the characters are well drawn out with just enough suspense and humor that I did want to put it down. As a story it can stand on its own but I recommend reading the earlier two books.
